It hit me on thursday that today could be the most important day in recent memory for this program. With all the hype of the game in Athens, plus our game in Auburn, If the UGA-Bama game is a complete epic showdown where both teams play top notch S-E-C Football, and if we get completely blasted by Auburn and have another showing like last week, i see no reason to belive that our recruiting will recover and our program will continue to spiral down. I dont know if someone has brought this up on the board before, but i just thought i would point this out.

I disagree. Our program and recruiting will recover due to the simple fact that the university throws an enormous amount of money at it every year. What this game will determine is whether or not Fulmer will be able to remain as HFC into the future. A loss here will continue this season's slide and seal his fate. Money will not become an issue if he loses this game today. Trust me.

Today is sink or swim. Heal as a team or die as a team. One way or the other the team holds its own future in its hands today. All i ask as a fan, is to take to fight to Auburn and keep it there for 60 mins. No one is gonna be mad about a hard nosed fight if we lose. But if we get blown out (again) it could burn this team down. Today is the next 10 years of UT football.

Very true, we do throw a a ton of money into recruting, and im glad we do, however, based on the inconsistency of the classes, is it really worth it? We have 2 top 5 classes in a span of 5 or 6 years, while your fla's and ga's can win and just show their records and get away with it. But with that said, the point i was trying to get at was, if we get blasted and the bama-ga game is an amazing game, this could just start a snowball effect. And i honestly dont think hamilton will fire CPF because he's been in that Athletic Department for years, and it might be a little to personal for him, as well as how much it would really cost to fire fulmer. Think about it, it will be atleast 3 million dollars a year for phil to step down. I could be wrong tho

If you can think of as:

Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
and
New Years Day

All in one.
If we declare independence from the Naysayers, Labor on the field and kick some butt, give Thanks at halftime for the return of the Vol attitude , return to field to win the game going away. The take that kickass attitude to through Christmas to a post New Years Day Bowl.
I can't remember a day or a game with a better opportunity to decide the destiny of a team. Today can establish how these players are remembered for decades to come.
The guys have a pregame decision that must be made. They can walk out of that lockroom to demonstrate respectability or laughability. Its their decision to make. They must decide which way they want to be remembered. Destiny is in their hands. The Fans can't do it for them. The Coaches can't do it for them.

The opponent can make the decision about Volunteer destiny but only if our guys let them.
