to seriously impact recruiting either in this year or next years class? I know that an extension for Martin will also help a lot but would a sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4 be enough to sway some top recruits?

Well the die has mostly been cast for this year's class. Making the Sweet 16 would give Tennessee a lot of positive pub with their late season turnaround. They've actually got quite a bit of equity out of it by virtue of having played twice already. They have had twice as much exposure as most teams in the tourney thus far. Most effect will be felt in 2015 class.

A 2 year (minimum) contract extension is probably equally as important to the run at this point.

Every coach Martin recruits against is able to say, "Don't go to U.T., Martin won't be there in 2 years anyway." Until he can get rid of that stigma, recruiting is going to be a challenge.

Not sure, but the table couldnt be set any better. Funny how being the play in game worked out so well.

Oh definitely. Been discussed ad nauseum in several other threads.

Playing in that game (and winning obviously) was nothing but good, uncontested exposure for our program.

Makes a Sweet 16 run more impressive too. People can poo poo Iowa all they want but having to win 3 games in 5 days is impressive regardless of opponent.

My worry is that recruits will start swaying this way and then a probable NIT season will kind of negate that momentum but if help comes fast enough or players progress then we can avoid those issues.

Just making the tourney helped recruiting, that was the biggest thing being used against Martin. The further he takes Tennessee the better obviously, but he's already helped himself quite a bit.

This will help us get in to the living room of several juniors. Of course, the years recruiting class is mostly locked up.

In the best case scenario, a senior that had been ignoring us or showing little to no interest in us, will show interest and maybe even flip from his current commitment, elsewhere.

This makes recruiting easier for Martin.
