How do you let

40 seconds on the clock and it's 2 and 10 and then let it all run down to 4 seconds and let Lincoln try and kick a 44 yarder? I mean I'm still scratching my head on that one?

Nobody expected the Vols to win, but damm! When a guy who never fumbles, fumbles, and an onside kick is recovered, the Vols should have won this game.

the kick was blocked, it wouldn't have mattered if we were kicking a 21 yard field goal we still would've lost. different story if it was short but it wasn't.

I disagree, but my point is, why do you allow the clock to dwindle down to just 4 seconds, and the play before that you try to run it?

Garbage. That's just being an arm-chair coach. It wouldn't have mattered where the ball was at. Lincoln kicked it right into Cody's arms. No chance. It was not a coaching mistake. You would be on here calling for Kiffin's head if he had thrown there and Bama had picked it.

You know that you're going to kick it right there. There is no point in leaving 40 something seconds on the clock so Javier Arenas can return the kick for a touchdown if you hit the Field goal. You end the game right there with lincolns foot hit or miss. Takes Cahones and coaching if you could have done better submit your resume.

they had no timeouts. they didnt wanna throw a pick or do something stupid and let the time run out. the field goal was the best chance we had.

Because you run the risk of getting sacked or fumbling... Our kicker should be able to make a 44 yard field goal, period.

So you rely on someone that can't kick with 40 sec's left and 2dn down? Please it was bat clock mant.

he had no time outs, and the play clock kept running after the play, why do that? just run it down and kick, looking back you can call whatever but if you said we had a 30 yard field goal to beat the number 1 team in the nation with 4 secs to go, i would take it anytime, idiot

Garbage??? really you're ok with that? you an idiot

Is anyone going to give you an answer that will satisfy you at this point? This was a classic example of setting up for a field goal against a great defense when you have no more timeouts.

Damn guys you just threw a big 1st down, now you don't have any faith in your QB to try to get you closer? that just silly.

No because it was bad clock management

To avoid any one of a number of situations...you're already in field goal range you run another play and anything could happen: hit in the backfield, holding penalty, fumble, whatever I agree with it when you have a chance to win don't take a chance to take away that chance.

Oh, boy, I love all the defeatist attitudes on here. nice. Play to win Cromp just made a huge 1st down. 40+ on the clock and you try to run, then you spike it with 4. I didn't like that at all. bad, bad, bad.

I was wondering the exact same thing. We could have at least advanced the ball to make it easier.

When you calm down and think about it a bit, this was the right call for all the reasons listed in previous posts......Lincoln should have made the kick!
