The only way I know of right now, is money, and a lot of it. I'm think that the tune of 3 million or more a year is probably about the only thing that you could do right now to make it a legitimately interesting prospect for coaches. Now, that doesn't mean you can't get a bargain and get a good coach, but with the 'AA breathing down our necks, it only makes sense that money would be a big deciding factor in this. In fact, I almost think you have to do at least 3 million for 6+ years, just to let the new coach know that you are seriously going to give him time to make sure he has time to rebuild the roster to his style of play.

Anyone else agree??

I'd be surprised if we paid $3 million. I hope we we're willing to go that high though.

They have to do something noteworthy to appeal to a damaged fan base. I'm not talking about your Bruce is God fans either, I'm talking about your fans that bleed Orange and White and have suffered because of the Fulmer, Kiffin, and Pearl debacle over the last several years. We need something that can unite this fan base and get excited again. A lot of us, including me, are excited about the young talent on the football team, but we are more than likely another year away there. They have to do something big, and if they don't then dang I guess we all got to suck it up and suffer a few more years.

Joe Blow will be the next coach, and he will fail. The following coach makes the big dough.

Considering what next year's roster may look like, money is definately the key. Recent success and top notch facilities are a nice extra, but they mean little to a coach when he's facing a challenging roster. But then again, I'm still not convinced that Hammy doesn't just draw a name out of a hat when making new hires. I have zero confidence in him to get this right. I pray he proves me wrong.

Always key but do you always get your money's worth?
I don't have much confidence in the next hire.
It will be a tough sell to get a coach with the moxy to get this turned around quickly.

What do you mean how do we make this a attractive job? With the severance pay financial genius Hamilton is dishing out, they'll be lined up at the door to get in here, in hopes they get fired.

Get Harris, Hopson, Jones and Ware to tweet that they all will be at UT next year regardless of who the coach is.

Wonder if financial genius Hamilton left himself a giant buyout in his contract as well? Seems only fitting.

I sure hope this isnt the case. I say get it right the first time or at least try your hardest (aka pony up if needed).

Having the money and using the money are two different things. Not sure I see them bringing in a new basketball coach and paying him 500k-1m more than Dooley. It's just not going to happen.

That's why the next guy will be a damage control guy (a caretaker) just like Dooley. No they're not going to get some big name coach, not happening.

This job is not going to be attractive to any of the top coaches....It's set up to fail in a major way...Your top two recruits are gone, Your top two players may be gone so your looking at a losing season next year and quite possibly one the season after, If you don't produce the 3rd season your fired....And the UT basketball carousel continues....what coach wants to come in here and have that black cloud hanging over them?....If they were to somehow grab Stevens I would be highly impressed but anyone beyond him doesn't really look that impressive...Shaka Smart I'm not really sold on yet...Good young coach but he's winning with Grants players right now, I would like to see what he could do with his own recruits...Larry Brown would bring the recruits and the staff but how long would he do it for?...He's 70 years old...I just don't see UT going after someone like him....But who knows?....Just my opinion and it doesn't matter what I think but curious to hear everybody elses thoughts on this.

Not because its our choice, its because we aren't an attractive job to the big name coach.

Recruits came 1st and foremost because of Bruce....not sure who is out there that is as appealing to recruits as what we just let go.

Show the potential coaches the facilities. Make them aware of what we can pay. Then explain how the fan base fell head over heels for a lying charlatan.

It's a good gig.

I agree, I'm just worried that it's going to get dicey, especially if we try and hire one before the infractions committee appearance we have. We pretty much knew what Pearl was going to get, but with him gone, I'm not sure that guarantees us to be in the better graces on the 'AA. but Bruce being gone does help.

Ask the people on here supposedly in the know. They guaranteed little if nothing would be done to us if pearl was fired.

The only thing that should get UT any punishment is the fact he was employed here, everything else was self inflicted. They'll get something but hopefully it won't be that bad.
