How big of a rival has UGA become?

I've asked this question to others, and it's been as expected...

Bama and Florida are 1-2, and UGA is a distant 3rd.

This series has heated up recently, though, with UGA dominating recently.

I have even had a commnet made that if we still played Auburn, UGA would be #4. I can't say I disagree.

What's your take?

Its become a bigger one as of late because of them beating us now.....It used to not be that big of a game but now that they're getting better almost every year it becomes a major game every year....This year its really big as all of you know....I do agree with the Auburn state ment though

uga has had good team as of late and has been in the running for the sec east. thats why the rivalry has heated up.

rivalries are overrated. my biggest rivalry is whoever we are playing next week and whoever is currently at the top of the sec east.

right now its #1 ga cause we play them next week and #2 florida because they need to lose to win the sec east.

I would place them 3rd after Bama and Fl but not distant

I'd say it dates back to the splitting into divisions. This put us playing against them every year. We had the upper hand for a long time (9 straight?) so it may not have seemed like a rivalry.

UGA seemed to have squandered some talent during that time as well - great RB's, Hines Ward, Quincy Carter, etc. We just owned them for a while and all our focus was on Florida. I think the 4 or 5 they took off of us moved them up in our minds but it's been a pivotal game in the SEC east since there was an SEC east. Since the split its been us, them or UF (for some reason UK, Vandy and USC just haven't challenged :biggrin2: ) Compare that to the west where all but Ole Miss have been in the SECCG

well uf and ua are definetly up there, but for me, uga is probably ut's biggest rivalry in my eyes because i live in ga and am surrounded by uga fans every day of every year and i have to hear about how great they are and how bad UT is and that 4 year losing streak may have been the longest 4 years of my life as far as football is concerned and plus i go to georgia southern and it really makes me mad that a lot of students that go here support uga more than they do the school they actually go to. i dont know how other ut fans in ga feel about it but uga is definetly the team i hate the worst.

UGA sure is a bigger game now than it was the entire 90 years previous!

I can assure you all that the UT/UGA game is much bigger to them than us (as far as fans go). I know a bunch fo UGA fans and travel there a lot and man do they hate us. We are right behind UF to them.

after that it is the next most dominant sec team.

if in 10 years usc gamecocks are good it will be them.

i live in ga and i definetly hate them the most and yes those were the longest four years of my life but they are definetly 3rd. this has no comparison to the fla and alabama games.

We dont have long rival with them. It basically started when the divisions started and we dominated until they went on that mini streak. I think it is more a rivalry with their fans since they are the inferior team. Dawg fans have to look up to us and model our success. They are nothing but homeless mutts who need to be euthanized.
