many young players in our 2 deep?

Take into account that Alabama has 18 true Fr listed in their 1st released depth chart and I don't feel so bad about our team. Georgia only has 7 this year in their 2 deep, not sure about the gators. Georgia is the team to beat this year in the SEC, Bama could struggle some if a couple of their key guys get injured. We picked a good year to have a weaker schedule as it will allow the young guys to have some success I feel.

A couple of years ago, Clemson and Alabama played a combined 27 true freshmen, at non-special teams positions, in the national title game. Sign the right talent and develop them via the right coaching staff and it’s a good thing imo.

This. Butch kept complaining about youth so much, people bought into the party line that you have to have seniors starting at every position. BS. That model has been dead quite awhile. Winning programs have young guys contibute right away and then go pro.

Depends on how you look at it. If you are looking at the future which everyone should be (it amazes me how some people believe this should be our year...) it is what it is. Normally I hate that phrase, but mainly because it is used as an excuse too often. Kind of like, I am who I am, or we are who we are, or they are who we thought they were 🤣 But playoffs? Playoffs? No way. Anything close? No way. We are indeed who we are. A depleted returning defense from a D that was awful last year. We are lucky to have some new faces, but they are new and also young. We have the right defensive staff to coach these guys up. We should hope to see and enjoy strong play that improves throughout the year from everyone returning next year and enjoy watching DT and Solomon make big time play a here and there when they are not double teamed.

Where are you getting those numbers? I'm counting 6 freshmen on the 2-deep Bama depth chart. 3 in the starter role which includes out PK. And frankly, there is plenty of talented upperclassman behind these starting freshmen at their position. That's just how hard it has been to keep them off the field.

And depth will not be an issue.

When those 18 are all 4 and 5 stars, it makes it a little easier

The constant myth and false drumbeat about frosh should be unable to start for the Vols is thoroughly discredited with your above post. It's appreciated. A good coach and staff finds a way to get the best players on the field and use them correctly no matter their time on campus.

I’m happiest when we are 2 deep!

Would you rather have the players that have been getting their tails whipped on the field for the last few years out there?

Nah, 'Bama, as much as it pains me to say it, is still the team in the SEC. I say this because Bama offense is explosive whereas Georgia not so much, they can grind you but if they are down big I feel they do not have the receivers nor the arm strength at QB to make a late run if needed. It is no secret, Georgia's backs carry most of the workload. I am curious to see if Georgia falls off any with their offense production given that Chaney left. I agree, we have an easier schedule for once and could possibly benefit us.

I think most of us have rebuild fatigue. We've gone through this now with 3 straight coaches in a 10 year time period (I don't count Kiffin since he was only hear for one year). We're tired of hearing "we're young." "We're inexperienced." We're this, we're that. I'm at the point now where I don't even want to hear it anymore. I just want the damn thing fixed. Sorry, if that makes me irrational then so be it. I just want the damn thing fixed. I don't care what it takes.

We've been rebuilding since Fulmer left. Time for Coach Pruitt to come down and give us the 15...oy.. 10 Commandments.
