After sweeping Mizzou, our Vols have only trailed a handful of innings. This is from a quick review of the schedule so far thru today's Mizzou sweep. Vols have played from my count 286 innings of ball this year. That is 31 games of 9 inning ball and 1 game that ended after 7 innings (due to travel rules as I recall). Of those 286 innings played the Vols have only trailed at any time in 15 innings total! Before the Mizzou series, Vols had only trailed for 5 innings at any time and this included our one loss to Texas. That is an outrageous statistic, if correct, and one I sincerely doubt we will see matched or bettered in a lifetime.

looking around the league, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Vandy are really struggling on the road this weekend. Although the SEC has some good teams, we are by far the best at the moment. Maybe the others will figure it out and get back to what we expected coming into the season. Barring a collapse, no one will catch our VOLS for the regular season title. Outside the SEC, Miami is looking strong with a sweep of UVA this weekend. I think they have won 13 in a row now. Brings back memories of when they were dominant. Didn't we lose to them in the CWS, like big, several years ago?

Lost to them twice in the 2001 CWS.

Bama is playing good ball right now, Florida may be putting things together and Georgia is dangerous.

This team is solid, from every aspect of the game. I love watching the highlights on youtube, seeing the fun this team has every time they make a big defensive play, or hit a dinger, they play hard. But, baseball being baseball, every team Tennessee face from here on out will give their best effort, playing their best game. I don't expect the 1 loss to hold up through the season, but I also think they will not lose more than 5 games. Let's enjoy what TV has brought to the atmosphere of Tennessee athletics.
