My wife and I are driving up for Ole Miss. We’ll be driving through Chattanooga. Trying to find somewhere clean and safe without spending $300. Suggestions?

The Read House In Chattanooga is a nice old Hotel.

It’s been about 7 years since my wife, mother in law, kid stayed there, and apparently it’s now in the ball park of what you don’t wanna pay, so I apologize for that suggestion, but there’s all manner of Marriotts and stuff.

If I I didn’t care about being close to downtown I’d pass thru Chattanooga, and do something in like a Cleveland Tennessee.

Everywhere downtown is safe.
You’re good out by the Hamilton Place area. Shallowford road to ooltewah.

There’s always my tool shed.

There is a very nice Fairfield Inn & Suites off the interstate in Ooltewah, TN heading toward Knoxville. It’s about 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. If you’re just wanting to rest and get a good nights sleep, it’s probably perfect for you.

I’ve also stayed at The Chattanoogan and The Edwin in the downtown area which are both great.

I second anything near Hamilton Place.. there’s a new hotel beside the mall and across from the Cheesecake Factory..can’t think of the name..and Embassy Suites is over there.. Downtown Chatt near the Riverfront Parkway is clean and relatively safe…We’ve been doing VRBOs but I’m not sure that that’s a good bet if it’s for one night..

In Knoxville you'll pay more on the west side of town and even more downtown.

If you're willing to go about 10 minutes east of campus/downtown, there are several good options at the Strawberry Plains/ Interstate 40 exit. Hampton & Fairfield can usually be had for under $200 and there's also LaQuinta and Comfort Suites which are good. There is also a Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

Stayed at the reed house and two drunk couples Making noose at 4 AM. Woke me up thus the experience not good based on that. The font desk did take care of it though as I heard the couples leaving saying someone reported the noise a few minutes later

Cracker Barrel is a bonus! Game day tradition

If I follow the rationale of these suggestions, stay in Lafollette, or Newport, or maybe Johnson City. Sheesh.

Coming from that direction it’s probably out of the way, just by a tad, but the Strawberry Plains exit might be an answer too. From my experience I’d rather go to Neyland coming from the East than West, there’s also an Aubreys there, couple Mexican restaurants and fast food options, you’d only be 15-30 minutes from downtown Knoxville and UT. Just trying to help a fellow Vol out.

Good Luck and GBO!!!

If you have kids then the Embassy suites in the Hamilton Place area is nice.

No kids then The Westin downtown.

I stayed in the Westin in Ottawa as a kid and have preferred them ever since over Hilton. I like some Sheratons but they seem to be very hit or miss anymore.

We stayed in the recently-renovated Embassy Suites on Gay Street last weekend, and I would recommend it, for sure. The rooftop lounge is incredible.

Bang for the buck, embassy suites are hard to beat.

The rooms are a very nice size and the breakfast is probably the best out of all chains.

I stayed at a hotel out there a bit because of work, and I had a drug dealer beating my door down at like midnight because the person that double crossed him must have given the wrong room # on purpose. lol
