I just read this article and hope things change. We have lost and almost lost won games due to our pathetic special teams play. Everytime we kicked it off I had to leave the room we sucked so bad. I like the part where it says they are scrapping the spread formation and going back to the traditional one. Here is the article

I'm sure the #1 Kicker in the country will help out with that cause....

It's about time. I'm curious to what the avg starting field position was for our opponents after kickoffs was. They couldn't cover punt returns either.

just goes to show how unorganized and how big of a mess Fulmer and company created w/ the football team

yep and this is one of the reason why I thought it was time for Fulmer to go. Coaching on special teams was horrible and just didn't seem to be getting any better. I don't know who was over it the past few years but wow they sucked.

It is my understanding the new kicker Palardy coming in is the number 1 rated kicker in the country. I believe I read where he puts over 90 % of his kickoffs into the end zone or beyond. I have been waiting for years for Tennessee to have a kicker of this quality. If he is as good as claimed he will be playing in game one. Tennessee used to be known for their kicking game and special teams and won may game with great kicking. I can remember many times over the last 5 years when Tennessee has lost because of poorly played kick offs and punt returns. Having a kicker with good hang time and can put it in the end zone or out of play is a tremendous weapon for the team and has a very demoralizing effect on the opposition. I think this concept is called big momo. I see special teams being much better this year.

it's amazing to see how everyone creamed over the spread punt formation when it was rolled out but now loves to see it gone.

Yeah I have heard the same and I have seen his videos. He has a huge leg for sure but he won't be coming in until next season though.

We haven't been dominanat in the kicking game since Jeff Hall left.

I think it was evident it sucked in game 1 against UCLA. Remember that punt block for a TD right before half. ouch that sucked

Best news all off season that we will be scrapping the spread punt formation.

Its the most useless piece of garbage in football. If you want to get your players down field faster, have them run more in practice.

I am sure you have noticed, but us internet message board folk are generally fickle and stupid. When you keep that in mind, it's more pathetic than amazing.

“There’s no also, ands or buts. Coach Gran is the special teams coordinator. He’s on top of things and there’s definitely an emphasis there.”

This says it all for me.

Well with our offense, we weren't kicking off that often.
