Yeah, we need to keep the infamous Mustang Package so opponents can march down the field. No, send every last lieutenant of this regime out the door!

Yes they are number 7. Chavis has made some questionable calls like running the prevent against Georgia all game but I have not been able to figure out why so many fans hate on Chavis. He is an excellent coordinator and the statistics he has put up prove it. We would have won a lot more games this year if our offense was half way competent. Chavis' defense has kept us in a lot of games a lot longer than we should have been

Yeah i agree.. Chavis is great. does get burned sometimes when he calls a blitz to pressure the qb.. but 7 out of 125 isn't bad at all
Hell Meat Loaf said 2 outta 3 aint bad.

I agree....send him packing with his buddy Phil....Chavis is a terrible coach, you can bet the house when it is 3rd & 12 the other team will will get the 1st down on our D....just the way our corners play 10 yds off the receivers is enough to can Chavis...he is the most overrated D coach in the country, get rid of his non coaching @ss along with all the others...

I like Chavis ,his defenses have won alot of games for us,just wish the corners would play up on recievers tighter.

A new head coach will want to clean out all the baggage from this program and bring in his own people. chavis had his chances and didn't perform in big games.

You do realize we've played a bunch of the worst offenses in the nation, right? Wyoming, Vandy, Miss St., NIU, Auburn and UCLA...

chavis coaches excellent defenses when he has excellent talent. They never play above their heads

Chavis has all of the personality traits of a great d coordinator. He is stubborn and down right nasty at times. His units have been the most consistent factor in UT's success for as long as he has coached.

However, he is also credited (in webland) with infighting with anyone on staff that seems to get any credit.

He is probably too close to Fulmer to stay.

and his hyperconservatism fits Phil to a T. It ain't gonna fit someone hungry to take it to the other boys in winning games.

Just wondering: When Vandy scored 10 pts on us yesterday, do the 7 that came from the INT return for a TD count against our defense? Or was our defense credited as only allowing 3 points?

Same thing applies to the Auburn fumble in front of the goal line that they picked up and walked in with....

Just wondering. I like Chavis, but agree that it's time to start fresh. Plus I don't think he would stick around out of loyalty to Phil.

Chavis is good. But his willingness to play soft under pressure will be his end. the mustang package, the db's playing 2miles off the wr's, and failure to stop anyone on 3rd and long are all signs it's time to move on. Did anyone doubt when adams took off and ran yesterday om 3rd and 15 that he wasn't gonna get the 1st down? or when adams long run on 3rd and long set up the qb sneak on 4th and inches? and this is just vs. vandy.

He needs to go. I am tired of Fla, Ga, Bama, Auburn, or LSU picking a score vs. UT. We can't stop good offenses and we dominate bad offenses. That is not a good thing. Shutting down bad offenses should not cheered.

Clean the cabinet out completely and restock with FRESH, NEW IDEAS..

chavis has not been terrible, but he has been allowed to go soft just like the offense under fulmers care...

I think if we bring in an Offensive guy like Leach, then Chavis should get to stay. He will have the majority of his players back next year, and is for the most part a good D coordinator. Now he definitely struggles sometimes with making adjustments and that certainly needs to be addressed. My thoughts are with Fulmer gone, we no longer owe anything to Chavis. If we give him a shot next year and he doesn't perform, then we can easily get him out of here. I think he has performed well enough to see how he matches up with the new coach.
