to recruit over Dooley's 'Diamond in the Rough' collection of 7 or 8 guys. We need SEC caliber players not delusional feel good stories about how these kids can magically become talented enough to play in the SEC.

I expect this forum to be a ghost town for the next 3-5 years. Butch Jones is not a proven recruiter at all, much less against the likes of Saban, Richt, etc.

You know the staff that he is going to bring in already? Please inform the rest of the board as it has not been publicly announced yet

I like this hire . Don't care what people say about it . He wanted this job , he has proved he can win , and loves developing players . All three things Dooley could not or did not do . I think he needs to get Tee Martin on board and keep Graham. If you are a true vol fan you stand behind the hire until year 3 .

We need speed in the secondary, talented bodies at Linebacker (AJ and Curt can't do it all), depth on the OL and a running back with power and size (for short yardage gains). Good luck Mr. Jones you have two years and the clock starts now.

This mentality right here is what is going to keep this program down. Especially ours. People need to realize that w/l bottomline thinking isn't the way to approach the measurement of progress for a program that is in the situation ours is in. Until then we will still be where we are and will never dig out of it. Just IMHO that's all...

(for the record...quick winning isn't a great sign either)

If he closes out with a solid recruiting class with a mix of JUCO and HS talent, we should be able to get to 7 or 8 wins in 2013. Jones doesn't have it as bad as Dooley had it coming in.

Oh I completely agree with you. That's kind of where my "quick winning" comment was coming from. 7-8 wins will mask things for a few yrs with this fan base and won't really know for a few yrs.

My concern is if he decides to jump into his spread O right away. Especially with the Ds we play every yr. we won't beat Bama, uF, UGA, USCjr on a consistent manner and that's what matters IMO.
