Does anyone think that signing Hood and the possible signing of Moody is strictly need based and this whole 2nd chance debate is being blown way out of proportion?

Think about it...Hood is an OL and Moody is a LB...those are two positions that we're going to be extremely thin at in 2010 (especially OL)...

People are debating this from a morality standpoint but in all honesty does anyone really believe our coaching staff is approaching it that way (i.e. would we be siging them if they were RB's or DB's)

Our coaching staff is taking them based on the fact they can play. There is no morality issues here, those are for Daniel and his family to prove to the administration, not the coaching staff. If he screws up in the slightest, he will more than likely be gone real quick. Some people need to get off their high horse and worry about themselves instead of casting a stone at a 18 year old kid that has apparently done what he needs to so that he can play football here. As far as Moody goes, nothing seems to have come of the rumors and/or problems that got him released from his LOI with Georgia.

I really don't have a problem with the signing of Hood, for reasons expressed by otehrs--long ago, no probelems since, great rec from high school, etc

I do, howver have a problem with Moody. His problems are much more recent and it appears (perhaps by rumor) that there is more than just sleeping with the coach's wife here. I'll admit to not knowing what else is involved with him but Georgia was apparently questioning the offer prior to the latest episode.

I was not on board with this signing at first, the court docket was really graphic and made you sick to read it. But then in his interview, he came across as someone who has changed, had remorse, and really had his his head on straight. Just might be the kind of kid to represent out school in a positive light, and be able to reach out to the youth adn help them. Still not 100% postive about this, but the bottom line is he was 13 yeasr old, did something reallly bad, and learned from it and moved on with his life in a positive way. I'm sure glad Idon't have to keep paying for all of the mistakes I made when I was 13.

I can't wait for the season to start so we can shut you up.:p

I just wanted to know his opinion on what we should have done about the HC cause I was wondering if he had any original thoughts or if he was just here to criticize(sp)...

Haven't heard back from him yet...

The previous staff had offered Hood too, along with many other high D1 programs. He can def play.

more bad decisions from a guy just not ready to lead.

the decision to admit him to UTK was made at a much higher level than the athletic department... without that decision, the AD had no decision to make

He is just here to be negative and bash Kiffin. Notice how we haven't heard from him lately since there has not been anything to bash Kiffin about? He only pops in when he thinks CLK has messed up.

There are plenty of positives going on in the football program right now, but Posi and a few others refuse to acknowledge any of that, but they jump at the chance to pile on Kiffin every chance they get.

I read that even the "victim" gave a letter of recommendation, does not get much more forgiving than that.

i say let the kid play. cause thats exactly what they are kids. I mean how many people make mistakes or can be easily persuaded at that age. Sounds like he and the people involved have moved past the horrific event. So should we

i'm sorry, but duct taping a cousin then watching a friend penetrate her with a plunger is dispicable. How many 13 year olds do this? Screw him. He made a choice then to watch and he did nothing to stop it. I wouldn't want that head case on my team.

Proud of you coach Kiffin. Thanks for showing compassion, and a willingness to belive in the ability that a young person can restore themselves. You have much heart knowing there would be much conflict in this dicision to give Daniel a chance to prove himself. You have displayed character that is not found often enough in todays society. A famous person once said that forgiveness will be shown to you the way you show forgivness to others. You are becoming more and more of a person that i thing is doing a great job.

I've been wondering...what do you think we should have done at HC...since you obviously think Kiffin was the wrong choice?
