:lolabove:No but she is from Afghanistan. She gets here on the 30th. Can't wait to meet her!
it is like any other island in the carribean, you have some good local flavor, and some not so good local flavor, but the resort areas are top notch....That sounds about perfect. A seculded bungalow with a bar or two sounds perfect. That's exactly what I'm looking for!

That was a funny comeback.lol:
I wouldn't put so much weight on it being the honeymoon. You are going to enjoy it because you are with your new wife. So is there a place both of you would really like to visit? I just think people get wrapped up in the idea of honeymoon spots sometimes. But if that is what you want then that is OK as well.
Well said.
As nerdy as it sounds we want to find a place where we can be alone but we both love history so I would like to be able to see some sights.
I fell into the usual thing most 20 somethings do when they get married. All inclusive deal on some beach. I enjoyed it because it was with my wife, but I have told her if we had it to do over I would have taken her to Alaska or something.
yep....which is why i liked the place we stayed, very secluded, not touristy, and definitely not busy.My advice: pony up and go to Hawaii. It is every bit as beautiful as you imagine and you still get the benefits of it being a state of the U.S. My wife and I were married in Maui, a bit of a "best of both worlds" island. Oahu I'd avoid, Kauai is supposed to be the least adulterated, and the Big Island has the volcano and a lot of history. Ideally, I'd like to visit both of the latter two on a 7-10 day trip sometime.
Anyone who has visited Mexico or the Caribbean can attest that even the swankiest of resort spots are surrounded by nothing short of third-world country. Leave resorts in Jamaica at your own risk. There's nothing wrong with Sandals/Beaches/etc. if that's what you're looking for, but there is definitely a lot of advertising frenzy that is meant to sell you on the "ideal" honeymoon. My experience is that you can spend a similar amount and find your own (better) places to eat and stay, and have a little less of an artificial feel.
Somebody mentioned Alaska, and from what I've seen, that would be a great place to go, too. My brother loved his last visit.

that's hilarious.
we went to St. Lucia...and it was awesome....they have several resorts...Sandals etc...we stayed at Marigot Bay....very seculded, beautiful spot. couldn't get to this place by car...had to take a boat across the bay. had a bungalow sitting on the side of a hill/mountaion overlooking the bay.....had a bar right down at the bottom and about 5 restaurants around the bay...and again, had to take the ferry boat to each...made for a good time....went sailing, snorkleing etc....good stuff, and relatively affordable.
