Honest Question

I said this last year and took heat for it.. but Butch is just a mediocre coach. He's not a guy that will take you to SEC Championships.

With how he handles press conferences and the excuses over the past couple of years, I want to say Butch is nothing more than a con artist.

I think he really has to over come his coaching with better assistants.. hiring Debord was not a great move and it's showing.

The Shoop hiring has proven to an even worse move IMO. I had no expectations for Debord but was convinced that Shoop would make all the difference and have us playing dominant, shut down defense....but our defense is much worse under him than it was Jancek. No idea why it isn't working, but it hasn't from the opening snap of the season vs App State. Injuries have played a role for sure, but we're a bad tackling team that's constantly out of position with bad technique. Barnett is the sole bright spot, no one else is even playing well.

Dude, how can you act like sending in 3rd and 4th stringers aren't the problem, then act surprised that the issue is tackling and being out of position with bad technique?

Butch Jones has done an admirable job here of building this program back up and regardless of end result he should be revered around here. With that being said college football is cyclical and I have always had the feweling in the back of my mind that Butch is our version of Ron Zook.. He has stabilized the program but he is not the overall football coach that can take us to the perennial championship contender level.. Anybody else feel this way??? Still pulling for the guy while he is here.. It will play out however it will...

Exactly! And Urban came in and won a title with Zooks recruits!

Even with his recruiting we are nowhere near championship level. Yes he has done some good, but we are not even close to top teams in the country.

You can't ask kids who never played a game to step in and be all americans off the bench.

Except South Carolina did it with a high school senior. First SEC start and he showed enough poise to make the passes Dobbs couldn't?

Comments made about firing Butch are short sighted and premature.

This team hasn't had consistent line play all year because of injuries.

You can't ask kids who never played a game to step in and be all americans off the bench.

I do think someone's gone, maybe two on his staff at year's end, but dont expect change with the usual suspects; unless of course we lose 2 more games.

There hasnt been consistent line play since he got here. And thats a huge problem after 4 years.

1. He beat FL and UGA in the same season. (To be coach at UT this is how you keep your job regardless the rest of the season)

2. Bama game I think showed our true colors and that we are middle of the road SEC east team.

no, we are showing true colors through coaching,,and not through recruiting.

point blank as jones said he can recruit but his coaches cant coach.
we see it , we saw it..

your turn.

example on field is my answer.

I view coaches like subcontractors. Each has a relevant time you need them, and when they've fulfilled their usefulness, you let them go.

They are paid astounding amounts of money. Their jobs are on a contractual basis. However, most fans want to think of them as part of the family. That's odd to me.

Regardless, I give CBJ all of the respect and credit for hoisting our program out of the Dooley ditch and doing it as a class act. No denying that. However, he's ran out of talent. I question his hires, game day execution, player development, and football IQ, especially strategic recruiting.

We can all sit around and watch this mediocrity for 5 more years as the rest of the East begins to rebuild or we can call it what it is, which is the time for CBJ to be replaced.

No need in emotion, angst, or hurt feelings. It's a simple business transaction and his services are no longer needed here.
