Home builders in Knoxville

Anyone have any experience with "build on your land" builders in the Knoxville/Maryville area? Doesn't have to be from a customer perspective... even anyone in the construction/inspection/etc business that has a recommendation for someone that does good work. Nothing fancy, just want a well-built home.

They are hard to find for some reason. Smithbuilt builds a ton of homes in the area and they have a lot of issues (I have one). They cut as many corners as they can, which is a shame.

So far, what I've learned:

The more visible they are, generally speaking, the worse their quality is.

The fancier their website, generally speaking, the more expensive they are.

So I'm basically out to find a builder with a 1990s GeoCities website that is impossible to lookup on google.

Maybe talk to some architects that do residential design? They've probably worked with several builders and at least know some names to avoid.

Or maybe inspectors.

a realtor is more likely to know who the good contractors are, but with the economy so good right now, they will be tough to get.
