this feels like a shootout race instead of a 500 I thought this was going to be one of the best 500 in resent years Still will be great finish but it's just not the same

It's amazing that something like this can happen at the biggest race of the year and that they haven't figured out something to provide a quicker patch.

Inexcusable to have the premier event of the season marred by the track coming apart. I could hear the clicks of hundreds of thousand casual fan's tv tuners go to the Olympic coverage. Not what NASCAR needed.

The track hasn't been paved since 1978!!!

My friend and I were saying the same thing. Could you imagine how many mad people would have been mad had they called the race off?

Agreed. If I'd have paid money to go I would have been mad

eh, i'll give them a pass on this one. it's not like the track coming apart is a foreseeable event.

not having a paving job in 32 years seems a little long, but i'd have to look at a place like Indy for a comparable amount of time. with the cost of paving the track being so high i don't think it's reasonable that a track would go as long as possible with paving it.

they did say it was going to be paved anyway in the next year, i would assume after the July race.

only thing i would have been mad about is the fact i probably would have run out of beer.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be like the World Series delayed a couple of times to get rocks out of the field. I can see it happening at other tracks, like it has done, BUT AT DAYTONA???

France came up to the booth after they announced it would only be ten more minutes and we would be back to racing. It was 45 minutes after that.

Great race though.
