WHY ? please make be a believer ... what makes you think Randy Shannon could come to The University of Tennessee and WIN if he could not win at Miami as a head coach ?

1. the area around Miami has a better pool of recruits
2. Miami had a booster paying big money to the recruits
3. Miami is in the ACC - strength of schedule

help me become a believer like you ! :hi:

For those who have read this post, twice perhaps, my apologies. However, people keep asking the question so I keep posting my answer. And yes, I remain enchanted by the idea that Shannon could land at Tennessee in a matter of hours (please!)>

Here goes:

1. Instant credibility. Shannon is a proven top level DC with a history of terrific defensive work at Miami. This would make a significant impact on defensive recruits- not just the ones waivering/committed but also potentially high level recruits still out there.
2. Recruiting. Shannon is a good recruiter but perhaps more importantly he is the definition of a Florida pipeline. He played there, he's known there, he knows the grounds/schools/coaches, and he is very respected.
3. Talent. The man knows how to coach. He was in over his head a bit his first time around the block as a HC but he can flat out coach defensive football.
4. Stability. Is it just me or have we had as much drama as ever as of late? Shannon is a known commodity that steps in and provides immediate direction, stability, and prestige to the program. Those visits with recruits and families on the defensive side of the ball will go much better when the name Randy Shannon is brought in to the discussion of who will be coaching the player for the next few years.
5. Splash. I hate to admit this, but we need a major momentum swing. With all of the above, Randy Shannon can push the ball and get it rolling for us. He will compliment Dooley well. This, coupled with 3 solid recruting classes, will bring the success in 2012 that we so desperately need.

Yes, I love Randy Shannon and want him in Big Orange. If he is announced as DC and McCullers commitment comes as expected, my sports psyche is going to feel really great for the first time since we beat OSU in St. Louis (b-ball).\

Go Vols my friend, GO VOLS!

I would love to give the HC job to Shannon! This Dooley experiment is over IMO! Lets hire the first black head coach at UT and watch the recruits pile in!
