Don't want these upstart wannabees Vol Nation posters are enamored of.

We've had enough of that over the last 10. Our brand can't take it anymore.

Get a guy who knows how to run a program, has won a lot of big games and trophies, and can bring in players and coaches.

This is not complicated.

1. Les Miles
2. Jeff Fischer
3. Les Miles
4. Mike Shanahan
5. Les Miles
6. Rex Ryan
7. Les Miles

Better to hire the young guy who might be bad than the old guy you know is bad. Go ask an LSU fan how they feel about Les Miles and why. Bet you change your tune.

Won a NC with Saban's players and never fielded even a decent offense the entire remaining time.

No offense, but I’m really glad you aren’t the AD.

At this point, I would take Fischer in a heartbeat. Actually would take any of them ..

His offensive system might score negative points in college if that's even possible.

Imagine Harbaughs style offense and how well it's doing. Now imagine something similar being run by a coach who was about half as good in the NFL.

My pick is Barry Switzer or Vince Dooley. Two former National Championship coaches. Plus, they both still show a lot of energy for their age.

Bill Parcell’s...Barry Switzer...Lou Holtz...I mean they are even older so they should even be better.

You lost me at Les Miles...there is a reason he is still sitting on the sideline when he has made it known he wants to get back in coaching. Couldn’t even get the Purdue job.

DO NOT WANT!!

If it was that simple none of them would be available because some AD would have them locked down and kept happy. So hiring an old dude that has won some games is guaranteed to still be able to do it? Les Miles would be the only one I would consider from that list. I do love Mike Shanahan because I'm a lifelong Bronco's fan. Not convinced that is the answer even as simple and obvious as you say.

From the same poster who started a thread trying to equate Michigan's situation to that of Tennessee's, and with a straight face tried to insinuate that Harbaugh is on the same level as Butch.

How bout no.

I just don’t understand the hate for this coach. He led LSU to averaging >9 wins in the SEC West , a much, MUCH tougher conference than the terrible East.

Oh, and by the way, while his teams rarely beat Bama, they certainly gave them all they could handle. This, to me, is much better than getting blown out year after year under BJ.
