what was the score of the northern illinois game?

how much different were those two games, really?

i am sure tennessee could have just as easily won the wyoming game.

they also just as easily could have lost to northern illinois.

don't blame that on fulmer being fired. they way some of y'all talk about fulmer.....that could have only helped the team's chances.

Fans liking Fulmer, or not liking him, has nothing to do with it. That team was not very good, that is a fact. But if you do not see the firing, of a 16 yr. head coach as a distraction to a football team full of 18 to 22 yr olds. You don't have much of a grasp of organized sports.

Not to mention the fact, you had a staff that was looking for their next job. Tennessee should have won the game anyway, but that particular decision, when it happened, had something to do with it.


And in the long run, it will help our chances.

i don't see anything necessarily. i just don't assume he's going to stink or is a joke.

what i like is that he has a top 10 draft pick at left tackle and a top 10 draft pick at wr.

they also have a stable of running backs.

I don't see Cox being terrible, but Stafford (the #1 pick in this years draft) had everything you just listed, with a preseason #1 ranking. And did not win the SEC east. And going back to a previous post of yours, a 10 win season, with all of the above, is underachieving.

I think you are putting too much stock in him being good early, he will be good in time. Not expecting a drop off from Stafford, is a bit unrealistic.

Maybe this is easier:

Georgia has been very inconsistent on the Line of scrimmage for years now. They let Tennessee crush them in 2007 by dominating Georgia on both sides of the ball. They have let teams like Vanderbilt cram the ball down their throat way too many times. Sure, they may look fantastic the next game, but they cannot continually do it, and WONT do it as long a Richt is there. Moreno MADE that OL look better than they were last year. You will see a differnence this year with him gone. King is a good back, but he is no Moreno.

Bottom line is that Georgia's star is slowly fading in the east. I will bet my bottom dollar that without a coaching change, they will not sniff a national title for a long, long, time; in fact, I don't see them playing for the SEC Championship for a long time either. I said this about Auburn 3 years ago too.

Keep in mind on one of the worst seasons in our history Georgia had Moreno, Stafford, and Massequoi and still only beat us by 12 points in Athens.

Not saying we'll dominate them this year, but how will they be improved over last year?

No, that was a fluke...I agree we played like crap all season but that game was really a fluke...We handed them that game on a silver platter, they didn't do anything to beat us, we beat ourselves just like we did against UCLA and Auburn and it was all because of that putrid offense we ran last year...It was a fluke...HUGE fluke...Don't think I'm trying to be smart with you, I just highly disagree with you and your rationale on that one...While there was no excuse for us to lose that one, that game was a HUGE fluke

Agreed...Whether fans liked him or not, that group of 18-22 year old that were away from their parents looked at CPF like a Father figure away from home, of course that's going to distract them, that had a lot to do with that game, I think the guys were out there just trying to go through the motions and they couldn't even do that because of the emotional let down they had experienced

Teams rarely do well in the first year of a new coach and system. Even if UT had won 12 games last year, most would expect some drop off due to the learning curve. UT sucked last year, but unfortunately for you, there's still a learning curve. In my opinion, the Vols will finish in the bottom half of the SEC east and maybe even at the very bottom. I know none of you are going to agree, but you're too close to the situation to see it.

No way we finish at the bottom of the east. That is your messed up bama pride coming out. While I don't think UT will set the season on fire, we will win enough games to finish in the middle of the sec this season.
