High Praise for Pruitt

If Pruitt does well here, he won’t be dumb enough to leave to go back to Bama lol

I believe this is accurate. If he is smart enough to do well, then he is not dumb enough to abandon a winner he has built to follow Saban. Let’s just hope this is something that we have to be mildly concerned about.

Not by people with brains. Dooley had a losing record at La Tech. Butch had never elevated a program. At least Pruitt is a blank slate.

That lack of experience can be rationally seen as a major positive indicates how poorly the hires have been executed since Majors. Phil doesn't count because he stepped right into the role, so it's been 40 years since they got one right.

This is absurd. If there is ever a day that Bama come calling, he is gone.

How many highly successful coaches (top 15 jobs) do you see jumping ship for another high profile college job? Pruitt could be the exception, I guess. Lane Kiffin's ghost still has us on edge it seems.

Again, let' s just hope we are in a position to worry about it.

All I am saying is that there were a lot of clear eyed people who saw the Dooley and Butch hires as somewhere between underwhelming and disastrous, even at the time. I would much rather roll the dice than settle for a known garbage commodity. I seem to remember that we selected Butch over Kirby Smart, who was also a blank slate at the time. I'm all for experience if the experience demonstrates an ability to elevate a football program. Otherwise, roll the dice.

How many SEC alums turn down the HC gig at their alma mater?
