Does it seem that the average score of a college football game this year seems really high compared to a few years ago? It seems like it takes over 30 points to win any game.

Have defenses gotten worse, has offensive talent risen, what gives?

It just seems that most schools are opening up the offensive game more and taking more risks, tricks, and becoming really creative and taking full advantage of all of their talent no matter what age.

Kickoff rule change has moved average starting position from around the 25 to around the 35, and greatly increased the chance of starting in the other teams territory. Especially if you play Tennessee. That rule has definately led to an increase in scoring, which is what they wanted.

Things go in cycles. The last several years the theme in the SEC was "it's a defensive league." Now, the offenses are better than the defenses.

I just think it ebbs and flows...that's just my opinion.

Just look at Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, and Auburn. None of those teams would put defense as the strength of their teams right now. But it wasn't many years ago that most or all of them had excellent defenses to rely on.
