My hidden key to this game, something I haven't heard anyone talk about yet, is Cade mays. jk. I actually want to see how our young D-Line performs in week two. Thinking of Simmons, Barron and Joseph. I think them getting better this week means a ton for next week in terms of a valuable rotation. I also want to see Velus mixed up in the receiver rotation as a pass catcher and not simply running. Can he stretch the field? That's it...go vols...41-17

My hidden key is sealing the edge.

We know in obvious passing downs we can get pressure after our USCe game. We could have been better sealing the edge.

No doubt about it, Drinkwitz saw what USCe did to our coverage with shots over the middle & moving Shi Smith around in the slot. Throughout Drinkwitz career as OC & HC he's been pretty innovative and able to get immediate results everywhere he's been.

I think we'll get tested early with a few off-tackle runs and screens. If we can't set the edge we'll have to spread out more than we like. Then Mizzou will be able to pick their shots & get chunk plays over the middle on 1st & 2nd down.

That might be enough to keep them in the game if our offense doesn't score +28.

We're not Alabama(yet...) capable of shutting anyone down, but I think Pruitt & Ansley are up to the challenge. No doubt Drinkwitz will have some surprises for us, but it isn't rocket science. Pruitt & Ansley know where we showed weakness and what the kittens will try and exploit.

If we're able to come out & set the edge then we're able to play tighter coverage, shut down the slot WR, & quick slants.

If we set the edge we cover the spread. If not, we only win by 3-4 points again & the sky is falling......

Hidden keys to the game no different than last week. First, no turnovers.
Second, no dumb or critical moment penalties.
Some concern the SEC office have told officials to call a tighter 2nd week... a lot of no calls last week.

Missing yardage on offense-

Passes that are behind the wr so they have to slow down to catch it so they get tackled immediately instead of running after the catch. Sacks instead of throwing it away and the obvious don't miss a wide open guy

I want to see us be good at the little things. I want to see easily completed hitches and outs, competent 3rd down play calling and execution, a lot more balance and more plays with JG under center that can setup our play action game . 7 called runs in the first half last week ain’t gonna cut it.

Defensively we have to set the edge and force their QB to make tough decisions in his zone reads and option game. Like everyone else said, clean up the middle of the field and have someone emerge at the Star spot to lock down the slot.
