Hope you all don't mind a Jayhawk fan posting and reading about basketball on your forum. I enjoy reading what fans of other schools have to say about college basketball.

......and by the way, Chris Lofton is probably my favorite player in college basketball.

You picked a good time to come around. Everyone on the board is pretty stoked about the upcoming season. If the Vols drop a few football games early this may begin to resemble some of the Jayhawk boards.

Welcome to the Volnation.

Most of the fans are pretty nice here. And fairly knowledgeable.

Incidentally, I was a big Jayhawks fan a long time ago. Until Roy Williams went after Donovan because Billy was outrecruiting him. Did not care much for the whining.

Luckily Lawgator is here to impart all of his knowledge.

Nevermind him. Two years from now Eddie Munster is going to wonder what happened to his "storied" program. :)

Thank you for acknowledging my superior intellect and skills of deduction.

As for your 1,673rd reference to Billy D as Eddie Munster, allow me to say only that the guy can look liek Scooby Doo as far as I'm concerned when he wins back to back national championships.

I would say that Eddie did pretty well for himself, but he will someday wish that he got outta Dodge when he had the chance.

As for your intellect, like my pappy used to say, "Boy, I could take your brains and shove them up a gnat's butt, and it would look like a bb in a boxcar".
(He said that all in good fun you know) :)

WOW....quite a welcome. A Roy Williams reference....a Gator fan.....this board has it all ;)

UT was one of the highlights of last years season. From the coaches entertaining the crowd to their fast pace, it was a fun year to watch them. I actually had picked UT for my Final Four and still think they got hosed.

They arguably did. Thing is, they sort of pointed the hose at themselves and dared the officials to turn it on full blast.

We definitely had a heartbreaker against Ohio State after killing them in the 1st half only to have them comeback and win.

With that said, we play them at home this year.

What is your expectations with Kansas this year? I have seen them in some preseason Top 5's and y'all return Brandon Rush, so it looks like you have a great team too.

Rush tore his ACL so he will be out until at least November/December. Hopefully our guards (Collins/Chalmers/Robinson) will be able to improve from last year and carry the load for the first few months.

Losing Julian Wright will hurt our chemistry as he was one of the most unselfish players in the nation....but he was very turnover prone for a big man so it might equal out.

To be 100% honest, it's pretty much Final Four or bust this year for KU fans. Their expectations are always high but after losing in the 1st round two years in a row, Bill Self can finally breathe. Personally, I just hope we compete hard and if we lose, we lose to a team that is highly thought of....much like UCLA last season.

What is Pearl bringing in for freshmen this next season?

Not much. Brian Williams is a 6'9"-6'10" post with decent moves inside but needs to get more athletic. He has lost alot of weight(over 50 pounds), but still needs to lose a little more. Cameron Tatum is a good shooter and very athletic, but is a little timid and needs to work on defense. He is a 6'5" wing.

Our bigger players are transfers. JP Prince will be in the rotation and Tyler Smith will start. This team will be 10-12 deep and will be extremely athletic and talented.

I'm beginning to wonder about Julian's decision. Today they said he was dropping down the draft board. Kansas will be tough, but with him they are the best team in the nation.

Welcome aboard Rocky. Huge Vol fanatic here but live in Memphis (they have a fairly good team coming back but we'll beat 'em again next year :) ) You'll see fans from several persuasions in here but just try to ignore the Bammers, they usually just go away on their own... :eek:lol:

Julian leaving was kind of a shock. He had said along that he was there to get a college degree and he would have done it in 3 years so we all expected him to come back for his junior year.

We do have a McDonalds All-American coming in from Minnesota. He looked awful in the all-star game but I think he is not very good at "playground-type" stuff....so he would not fit in at UT. ;)

Yeah, I never expected Julian to leave because I heard him say numerous times he way staying. But Kansas will still be tough to beat.

So tell us, lawjayhawk, what team did you pull for in college football before the Gators became relevant?
