Hey Hamilton, try this

Let's sum this up...Tennessee needs to make a coaching change, but we need to be very careful about who we pick so that we don't go completely down the tubes...that is what I have gathered

I'll go a step further and say that if no one can be found that would be exactly what UT needs, then no change should be made right now.

If someone like Paul Johnson says "Not now, but maybe after the 2009 season", then that's fine. The unfortunate part is that Urban Meyer left Utah after 2004 and not 2005, because that's literally a generational offensive mind.

I'm not happy with 8 win seasons either, but is there a coach that would be available, and that we could get now who could come in and immediately turn the program around? Especially considering how much it's going to cost us to replace Fulmer. We could end up with some coach who would have us wishing we could have 8 wins a season.

I'm wishing that now.:hmm:

OK.
What did Urban Meyer do to Florida?
Nick Saban to Alabama.
Les Miles at LSU.

Those are just a few within the past few years around the SEC that came in a 'Got it Done'.

Are you saying UT could not do that also?

Apparently Ohio thinks Fulmer is the man to lead us back to greatness.

Fat chance. About as fat as Phil.

If you speak of making a change just to make a change...

I never spoke of making a change just to make a change. You should start at the beginning of the post to see what I said.

Do we need a change? YES.

Do we need a smart change? YES.

Should we just hire the first kid who wants to coach at UT? NO.

Should we hire the best person for the job who can lead us in the right direction? ABSOLUTELY.

The only thing I've learned from your post thus far is that you have a superiority complex. You need to get over yourself.

"When it happens, it doesn't gradually happen," Robinson said of success. "It explodes. We're all battling our a** off. I'm really excited about it."

Kind of like "working our rear ends off"...

What about what I asked you?
Do you not agree?

I touched on it with the post under your original one. My point was that none of those schools made a switch just because they could, they did with either a specific coach or type of coach in mind.

That's why some schools can continue to perform at a high level even during a coaching switch, while others (Baylor, for example) will continue to flounder; they keep making changes with no actual direction or even a thought for the direction besides "not this one".
