Oh boy...with all the coaching announcements today, it keeps sticking in the back of my mind...Who goes to PSU?

Do I want Heupel to leave and go there? NO

Do I THINK he may go? POSSIBLE...he may realize hes hit the ceiling here and look to go to a place where getting to the CFP is easier.

There’s been stuff floating around for a couple of weeks saying that Penn St had a hire lined up that would stun people. This would certainly qualify.

I would think-or at least hope-that if Heupel had intentions of going to PSU he would have back channeled a communication to Golesh to hold tight and not accept another job for a bit.

I kept thinking it would be Deboer, but maybe it is Heupel. I really think Heupel is our Mike Shula. Both got their teams through hard times, both had a few good seasons, both were stubborn about coaching staff changes. Obviously Heupel is the better Coach, but point is neither would/will make the coaching staff changes to get to the next level. That's what got Shula fired, he refused to fire his staff and make changes

Why? I don't think he is going to Penn St but not sure him going would have any effect on Golesh whatsoever.

Why would he leave Tennessee to go to a place that fired a coach who made the national semis a year earlier and had a 104-45 overall record? Whatever you say about the 'unrealistic expectations' of our fans, it has to apply double to Penn State right now.

Also note, a few weeks ago, one of these betting odds sites had Nick Saban as a favorite or 2nd favorite for LSU and a similar deal with Urban Meyer and Florida. So I'd take these with a grain of salt.

This is true. I honestly have no idea where Danny White would turn.
Especially now that Golesh is heading to Auburn. I don't think Mullen would be a bad choice. Gruden,Dillingham would be another option and he could bring Leavitt with him. If Hartline had been OC a few years longer, he may could be a good option. He would bring elite recruiting and a great staff. Do I want Heupel gone, I'm fine with either. I just don't think Heupel would ever make the staff changes to get us into regular CFP discussions. JMO

Dillingham would be fine, but he seems content at ASU for now.

Why? We do not want Golesh. Golesh is not the type of coach you hire to elevate a program to the next level. You hire him and Sumrall and others to rebuild a program. But you aren't hiring him to take over a stable program with the hopes of elevating it.

Golesh has an established history here.

Heupel and D White have enjoyed a very friendly working relationship.

I am 99% sure Golesh would have preferred our job to Auburn or Arkansas. Face it, we are just the better job. Period.
