I know that he is not popular here, and justifiably so, but Finebaum stated that "Hendon Hooker [is] the key to everything, and so is Josh Heupel, who I think has established himself as the premier play caller in America... They have such a fast-break offense that it stifles teams, especially when they’re on the road and they take the crowd out of it. [Yesterday] was an amazing statement win for Tennessee, but they have bigger fish to fry (against Alabama).”

Heup’s career will be defined by his choices at DC

I understand it’s difficult to feel in games, but the defense is improving. Still some gaps at DB, but the game plan Banks put together for LSU was solid, and it was executed well. Not SEC level yet, but it is getting better. I wouldn’t throw the towel in on Banks.

wife and I were talking about this yesterday
7-6 last year plus 5-0
with what he inherited, he already has a 2/3 winning percentage
we gonna be ok, I agree
It blows my mind. Some of the buttmunch geniuses around here act like he's doing what he's doing with Georgia and Alabama players. Lol. Wtf??

That’s an interesting quote because I seem to remember just 18 months ago when that pompous windbag declared Heupel “underwhelming” and the Vol football program “irrelevant”. With such wonderful insight and consistency, little wonder ESPN gives him such premier exposure commenting on SEC sports.

PrvesQUOTE="TnVol!, post: 21799699, member: 76473"]We won a national championship with John Chavis as DC. We need players and will get thpem.
Proves you can win a natl title without a great third down defense.[/QUOTE]
Chavis was LSU's DC under Les Miles, who was their DC when he won his Natty? I really don't remember or care enough to look it up. Spurrier made many DC's look bad during that time. Fulmer and company would have looked different with a different Florida coach ( except Urban Meyer).

Has Funbomb ever said anything, about any range of subjects.. including world hunger, world peace, the state of the nation, without muttering the word Alabama? He just can't do it. He truly is a SABAN nut hugger.

I love the people who like to **** on John Chavis. The guy was one of the truly elite defensive coordinators in the country for the better part of 15 years. Both here and at LSU. The last few years of his career were rough because like a lot of guys of his generation, he could never adjust to the high tempo spread offenses.
