Heupel getting some (well deserved) recognition

And I thought his early success was just following and cashing in on Scott Frost’s success at UCF glad to say I was wrong about that and Heup is a damn good coach on his own.
He is a very good coach. It is interesting the trajectory of the careers of the two coaches you mentioned. Most pundits are all in on Heupel, and Frost failed miserably at his next stop.

We take the next step when he gets a top notch lieutenant to operate the defense. We'll always be good on offense as long as he's here.

In the past 5 years, here’s the list of head coaches who have had a top-10 scoring offense every season:

  • Josh Heupel, UCF and Tennessee
  • Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma and USC
  • Nick Saban, Alabama

Just for a little perspective, that tied the longest such streak that Steve Spurrier had at Florida from 1993-97.

That last statement says a lot to a TN fan!

Honestly, I though the same thing was probable. I just kept quiet.

My estimate is that 70-80% would have chosen Frost over Heupel at that time, given the choice.

Well Said and In my own "Come to Jesus" moment...I'll confess that I had the same concerns.
This is one time I'm happy to eat crow, and just enjoy the ride our school is getting with Coach Heupel, and Danny White.

Maybe in hindsight Frost might be a good division 2 coach and Heupel just needed better talent than he could get at Missouri or UCF to truly run his system.

Same. When things began to change…watching all those touchdowns piling up against Missouri in 2021. I woke up that day

I absolutely would have.

Luckily, I'm a moron and everyone knows it.

You know one thing I love…….off season speculation about “coaches on the hot seat” and not hearing OUR coach discussed. That is such a welcome and relaxing feeling.

Let me tell you what pisses me off. The Heisman used to be about a player that was hugely a key to the team’s success. Hendon should’ve gotten the trophy regardless of him getting hurt. He got hurt late. The Heisman is a BS trophy and Tennessee has been robbed of it several times.
