1. Depleted recruit class.

2. Cloud of NCAA investigation hanging over program.

3. Beasley allegations.

4. Brandon Davis situation.

5. Consider all the transfers we lost. Not good! What is that number - 26?

Heupel is blameless. He did nothing to cause any of this. He is above all this.

Yet, he has to deal with all of this.

Unfair, IMHO.

3 of those 4 things were out there when he took the job. He's a big boy who signed up for a big boy job at a big boy program and getting big boy dollars. He's not feeling bad for himself, and we shouldn't either. He knew what he signed up for and it all comes w/ the territory of being a coach.

New coach knows this is a short term gig.
He will leave messes for the next New Coach.
Since HCPF was fired, the four HCs have averaged a 3 year term .The tenure of New Coach will not move this average very much.

He spent a lot of time at OU, and saw a ton of stuff go down there. He witnessed Stoops’ good and bad handling of situations. Heupel is smart, and will do a good job navigating through trouble.
True, he probably never gave thought to what he would do with a player abusing a kitty...

I seem to remember that, when the search was going on, Heupel was under consideration for the job because Danny White perceived him as the type of head coach who could weather the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, so to speak. He knew coming in that he would be expected to take on that mantle and get the program rolling again. I don't think he would have accepted the job if he didn't feel confident in his own abilities to do that. He doesn't seem to be fazed by all that's going on with the program and has acquitted himself quite well so far. I think we're in good hands.

First..it's important to say that I'm supporting Coach Heupel. I'm hoping he is able to create the "Heupel Era" in Tennessee's football program and remains in Knoxville a very long time. He certainly has challenges ahead of him...however,
lest anyone feel too bad about the mess JH has to deal with...Perhaps it's time to refresh our memories:
Josh Heupel to earn $4 million annually as Tennessee football coach
Minimum guarantee of 4 million a year ( that's a 235% RAISE from his last salary at UCF) six year contract with a 7th year guarantee ( under circumstances) and a sweet guaranteed BUYOUT that will keep him struggling to get by on MILLIONS per year... regardless of how badly he might fail in Knoxville. Fact is, he can totally fail at UT, get fired and still be bringing in hundreds of thousands of $$$ MORE than he was making at CFL. Coach Heupel's record as a HEAD coach is not stellar by a long shot. In fact, one can make an argument that he basically did OK at Central Florida until he ran out of Scott Frost's players. In his 3-year tenure as a HEAD coach, his teams got worse every year.
Soooo...let's not feel too bad about his situation.

If the current trajectory holds, he is inheriting a much better roster than what he will leave his replacement.

Is there something new about Brandon Davis? Why is that an issue at all?

Why? Except for #3 (which really isn't much wrt the overall job) he knew all this stuff coming in and still cashed the check

That is why we got him to straighten all these problems out and he accepted the challenge. We have to be patient and give him the time to get it done right now the program is a dumpster fire that he didn't create, but took upon him self to cure. I think he can do it and glad he is here.
