Correction he did have 17TD’s but he had 600 yards rushing, Bishop is coming off 1000 yard season

Our 2024 OL was pretty good at run blocking. The two tackles were really bad in pass blocking. Nico was also bad at getting rid of the ball and seeing the pass rush. 2026 should be just as good, though Cooper Mays was as good of a center as we’ve had since Trey Teague.

I think the 26 OL is just a stronger group overall. Nico had the problems that u typically see with a young QB, which is really my entire point on my original comment. Whomever wins the QB job has a very good supporting cast.

IMO when u start an inexperienced QB, the very best situation he can go into is to have talent around him. They have everything around him that he needs to be successful. OL, RB, WR’s, & 2 athletic TE’s. We don’t know what the defense will be.

Heupel has adapted and made changes, but at some point he'll have to fix the penalties and lack of discipline, game management issues, and most likely get an upgrade at the offensive line coaching position

If Clark Lea keeps pointing Vandy in the right direction we need to give him a serious look if CJH isn’t the guy in three years.

He’s not gonna leave Vandy. In 2024 he said he wants to turn Vandy into a “powerhouse” or something like that. Also, he played fullback for Vandy from 2002-2004. Hopefully baldilocks goes back to the basement

- after the 2022 Georgia loss Tennessee could have went into a spiral because our offense was figured out. Even though that was our best year, teams had begun to be able to defend us.

How good would we have been in 2025 had we had the 37th best defense instead of 97th? That fell on Heupel too, but he did make the tough call to get rid of DC that helped him to a College Football playoff and an overall positive stable situation at Tennessee. That was hard.

In 2026 our offense and defense are completely different from just a recent as 2024.

Heupel is slowly getting better as a HC and his offensive play calling is also improving. He's adaptable with playcalling and he's learned that defense is truly important so much that he knows how to help it and lean on it.

I think Tennessee makes the College Football Playoffs in 2026 and Heupel beats UGA this season. He's 0-5 against Kirby but I still see Heupel growing as a coach and I like his progress. Everywhere you look Heupel is active with his touch on every part of the program.

I think Tennessee is very very close to being a Top 5 perineal team in college football. And it's because of Heupel..Who was a 6-6 coach the year of 2020 at UCF.

He's done what Dooley, Butch, Pruitt could never do. Improve.

Pros and questions with this team:
Pro's: > They are bigger and stronger player vs. player than last year
> Although much of the talent on this team is unproven, they are deeper than they have been in most positions
> They have one of the best DCs in the nation
> They have two QB's with as much raw talent as any we have had since CJH has been here
> CJH's "culture" is installed
> CJH has proven he will change things up to make things better. That pulling guards on passing plays got LB's and DB's especially SS first step towards the LOS even on passing downs. We got some TE's that will feast this year on that action
> If one of the QB's "get it" we will score a lot of points on most people

Questions:
> How fast can one of the QB's step up - hit the long ball (Joey was just a pretty good QB who had sense and feel enough to throw the ball up where his WR's could make a play)
> Will Chaz Coleman show up and show out or will CJK find another way to get pressure on opposing QBs - one or the other is required
> Can we be a middling defense in the SEC - give up 21 or less points per game

My Take: I think the Georgia Tech game will show us what we got - similar to the Syracuse game last year. I was at the 'Cuse game last year and left feeling like we had an explosive offense and an opportunistic defense but one that couldn't stop a nose bleed. Unfortunately, I was right.

Yes.
But I wonder those if those things can be fixed.
The discipline part especially.

All that aside - Tennessee with a dangerous offense and dominant capable defense can still be an exciting program to support year in year out. That's all I personally want from Tennessee and Josh

Coleman was medically disqualified and isn't part of the program anymore.
