He's Going To Punt...

Well, we were decent this year and had holes everywhere. We have a QB or two that is capable. The DT question is the big problem.

DT is a problem, unproven QBs is a problem and assuming the WR situation will improve, while it makes sense that it would, is optimistic.

Why wouldn't Fulmer want to hire his eventual replacement? He knows he won't be there but a few more years. He knows he won't finish his contract. So why wouldn't he hire the guy he think could lead the next generation? Phil may be a lot of things and have some weird tendencies, but he wants what is best for UT in the long run. I don't see Brian Billick even getting a call. He will get another NFL job very soon either in Atlanta or Miami or one of the other places that will can the coach soon.

Rex, what the hell are you talking about? You, nor anyone on any of these boards, know who CPF has or will interview. You have heard of 1 current interview for OC. That was Spence. CPF is being pretty tight lipped about this and nobody knows what is going on for sure. You guys act like little kids. None of you can control what is going to happen with this so just sit back and wait. Either way, even if it is some up-and-coming offensive guru, what makes you think that CPF will give him full control of the offense?
Awesome post HV!

Might as well add Brian Billick to the list

I don't think he'd be interested in the UT job. He would, however, make a nice stunt double for the dad on 7th Heaven.

I honestly think the DT will be the reason we either have a good season or an average at best season.

I'm not worried about the QB position. How proven was LSU QBs coming into this year? One or two starts? Same thing with OSU and a number of other top teams.

If Illinois would be the best team we played next year, I wouldn't be too concerned, either.

Still doesn't change the fact that LSU didn't have a proven QB. Hell, UGA's QB is nothing special. They are in a BCS bowl.

Tebow was only situational his freshman year and wasn't proven as a starting full time QB. UF is top 10 going into the bowl game. USC did pretty well last year, though Booty was extremely proven. How proven was Sam Bradford?

I know. One of my two examples was shot down. I had to provide further proof that it can be done.

Oh, I know it happens all the time. A freshman QB doesn't need to be an All-American. He just needs to get the ball where it needs to go.

Exactly. Other than DT, the biggest question is the staff. QB could be a big or small concern depending on who we bring in. Regardless, I think we should and will run the ball alot next year.
