Georgia is up 7 in the big game today.

Out trots Georgia's Mr Backup "for some reps" in case Murray gets hurt.

Maybe not the greatest analogy but it's an absurd thought, no?

Sure, the Vols were up 31-7 (may be wrong we didn't get discharged from hospital til it ended and I had to follow online). However, you have a bad QB and a struggling running game at times with a defense nowhere near where they should be. Today just goes to show that this team is not guaranteed a safe blowout win and until they are up 45-7 in the 4th you don't put backups in to "get valuable reps". UT has yet to prove they can secure a win early. You keep the struggling starters in to get their valuable reps. Sure an injury may occur, but your more likely to lose the game your currently playing that betting on a possible win.

You people are just grasping for any logical reason to get a freshman in :p

Not a great analogy, but imagine if Ferguson or Dobbs comes in and we somehow lose the game.

What if A Freshmen comes in and throws 3 TDs ?

Or, you know, 3 INTs.

Look, Coach Jones didn't get his job by being a moron. Although most of us probably don't understand why right now, we have to accept that Coach knows what he's talking about when he says the freshmen aren't yet ready to play.

We couldn't hold a 24 point lead would be my guess as to why neither played.

When the freshman gets snaps he will make mistakes but I can understand those. We have a jr making mistakes at a high rate. I would rather have a freshman make his learning mistakes now rather than next.

Maybe jones has a qb he wants to come in next year is all I can think as to why we have not played them in the blowouts.

LOL. Maybe the game did not look as bad online..or the hospital edited it to keep their patients calmer.

Worley played just well enough and just poorly enough to keep them out. This game just wasn't a good game for getting one some experience. Damn shame.

The coach is blasted for a stupid move and we park a moving van in his front yard(Circa Battle -1975) . Its hard to accept and damn sure was hard to watch, but we got the W and we move on to what will come next week.

Yhea, that's a terrible analogy.

Maybe not so great, but it makes as much sense. You don't put your backup in until the game is waaaaay out of reach. Vols won by 7 points and people are still asking where were the backups "reps".

Sure they could come in and throw 3 tds but the experiment with Peterman was bad and after a total of 5 plays people said "pull Peterman!"

People keep talking about getting the Freshman some experience. "What if Worley gets hurt and you have to put them in". Look, getting a couple of series against USA isn't going to get these guys ready or comfortable to face UGA or Alabama. If the coaches believe Worley gives us the best chance to win this year, and clearly they do, then they need him to get as many reps as possible so that he improves as much as possible to give us a chance of beating anybody.

Or maybe just maybe people are wondering why a junior QB is making the same freshman mistakes week after week

If either of the freshmen had given the coaching staff the indication in practice that they were capable of coming in and throwing 3 TDs, then they would be out there. They aren't.

Well if Worley is the best we have over there then I really hope this staff is recruiting over the 2 freshman as we speak

Listening to the Georgia-LSU game I heard the commentators talking about Richt not burning Murray's or Mettenberg's Redshirts now look at where both teams are now. This is why the Frosh aren't playing.

Oh yeah, they couldn't come in and win the job as true freshmen, so we might as well go ahead and dump them from the roster.

Give me a break. Freshmen get better. Most QBs never see the field as true freshmen. So to conclude that Dobbs and Ferguson will never be successful because they didn't win the job as freshmen is laughable.

I think we all knew what we were getting with Worley after his limited action over past couple of years. There was never a moment where he just lit the world on fire. It's obvious we aren't a good team. I think fans want to know what we have with our freshman QBs because we have seen some freshman QBs have success here (Peyton, Ainge, Bray).
