Here's where the bar has been set in defensive recruiting

Got to disagree with this sentiment. Dooley provided us with depth, now it's up to CBJ to bring the quality. If he can coach up who we have and recruit quality freshman and using the Juco ranks to plug in holes at DT and LBer, he should be able to compete and win consistently starting in year 2 or 3.

It's time to stop lowering the bar. He came to UT for the challenge of getting our team back to where it belongs in the SEC hierarchy. Majors got us winning with 3 star talent before landing the bigger fish. If CBJ is what we think he is, he can do the same. Besides, looking at the schedule this year, 5 of the 12 teams will be favored over us with UGA and South Carolina at home. 7-8 wins is possible and should be expected.

Hope you're right Dune. I am just trying to be realistic. I think it'll be four years from a top 10 to 15 recruiting class before we see the SEC championship game. Unless some of our rivals regress which I don't see happening.

I want to add to this that UT has the money and resources to win right away too. It takes one great prospect to get the ball rolling for an entire class aka Ole Miss. Ole Miss hasn't won 10 games consistently like Bama etc yet they pulled in a top ten class with less resources then we have. The excuses have to stop now. CBJ should be able to at least win 6 games and a bowl game this year. There's no reason CBJ can't win 6-7 games next year and a bowl game. It's time UT ends the excuse train and people need to start realizing that we settle for mediocrity these days. We have to many donors and resources to settle for anything less then a top ten class and a bowl appearance of some sort every year.

My question to you guys that think I am setting the bar too low for the new staff.... Would you not be happy if we won seven games next year, went to a bowl game and won, say the Music City bowl? Then signed a top fifteen class.

The following year won 8 eight games and went to like the Outback or Chick-Filet bowl, signing another 10-15 class.

The next year win 9 games and maybe go to the Citrus bowl or another bowl just below the BCS. Another class around 10.

The next year winning like 10 Games, just missing the SEC Championship game. Another Class that threatens the top ten.

The next year finally making it to the SEC championship game.

The reason I ask cause that's how I can see it play out. Gradual improvement over time. Your thoughts????

We are going to need classes full of top notch players to beat the top teams in this league (who have classes full of top notch players).

So simple and straight forward that even Ole Miss figured it out...

I agree with this. Multiple very good recruiting classes. Five years at best before we are a factor in the east. Better just sit back and try to enjoy the ride and all the bumps that will go along with it.
