Not really. Hamilton was hired in 2003, and firing a national championship winning HC, when you have only been in your office for 2 years is a little crazy.

What I meant is that the article itself places most of the blame for tennessee's slide on MH for not making the move in '05 and not on the underachieving team itself.. I wasn't passing judgement on MH's decision to not fire him then one way or the other

Hamilton was pretty Stone Cold today.

He's been slaying of late Buzz, Delmonico, Fulmer.

You got a point there. I think the next Halloween party I will put on a Mike Hamilton mask.......and go as the Grim Reaper.

I give him credit. He obviously personally had great affection for Peterson and Fulmer. However, he didn't let that get in the way of doing his job. He's to be commended for that.

The only question that remains is who's idea was it to give Fulmer that contract this summer. Was it Hamilton's idea? Peterson? A booster?

What was the motive?

If true, he should be terminated without compensation immediately.

I totally agree. Drayton should be packing his bags.

From the article:

But on Monday, when he got the bad news from first-year Tennessee running backs coach Stan Drayton, Giles realized he needs to examine his choices.

"Pretty much, [Drayton] told me to look at Option B," said Giles, who plans to enroll at his chosen school in January. "He didn't want me to get caught up in this mess." For Giles, Option B is either South Carolina, Clemson or Boston College, with the Gamecocks holding the edge.

MH has terribly mishandled this IMO. By all his previous statements in support of Fulmer, he has made it look like he pulled the trigger too quickly and with no justified cause in the end. This is not the case but it has given the Fulmer supporters plenty of fuel to pour on the fire.

Fulmer got the extension because he claimed that other coaches were using his then current contract against him. Don't know who's responsible for the "eight is enough" clause, though.
