It's going to take at least a full recruiting cycle for us to see dramatic improvement in this team. Kiffin HAS to get the guys that fit what he wants to do and right now he doesn't have the horses to carry his wagon. I'm fine with that and honestly everyone else should be. I'm the biggest kool-aid drinker I know and I knew that today was going to be a test in my head. Better things will come, give it time and don't jump off the deep end with no water in the pool.

Agreed, I'm seriously doubting whether this team can make large improvements until talent is upgraded across the board. OL, QB, and WR was noticeably deficient tonight.

I once believed that 7-5 was a joke prediction this season. Now, I would love to finish the regular season 7-5.

no one's jumping out of windows, but we should have won this game

being on the 4 yard line with 2 plays to score a tieing TD, and win with the point after..Playing at home we should be able to get the ball in the endzone

It's very frustrating...

Then we get the ball back and throw 2 out of 4 balls to a player that hasn't practiced in a month

Agreed.

Before today I liked to think Kiffin didn't inherit such a bad team on the offensive side of the ball. I still don't we just aren't good at QB at all. I wanted to think that last week was a sign of things to come but I also felt the same way you did about the game this week, it was a big test in which we failed at, on the offensive side of the ball. Just looked bad from the opening kick off.

The first couple of years may be tough and if they are then so be it, let the chips fall where they may but I still think Kiffin has the program heading the direction it needs to be

I don't disagree that it's frustrating, but I have read enough in the past 30 minutes to realize that we have some fickle ass fans that need to get a grip.

Agree.

What did everyone expect out of essentially the same players as last year?

The problem is that too many people got too euphoric when a change was made at the top, and expected (unrealistically) that that would automatically translate immediately into change on the field...in the first season.

A full recruiting cycle is what I expect it to take for us to be back at the top.

Everyone got too optimistic. Remember last year seeing the difference in talent against Bama and Florida? Two years, guys. Two years it will take.

Today was what Tennessee looks like if we do not execute on all aspects of the game...We need to have everyone on the same page...WR running the right routes, O-line playing with some serious aggression, QB has to make some damn plays...Crompton is not looking good. I just dont understand why we are not running more Bubble screens and regular screen passes??? We should have done that on multiple occassions tonight...When crompton is struggling you have to give him passes that are a little easier and things he can throw quick too..When he has to wait on a reciever he looks scared like he is going to get sacked and he forces his passes...

THis is where the coaching staff will come into play...can they get this loss out of their minds and regroup and come out strong next week?? We will not win next week but we will see the fight in this team next week....

All around sad weekend for a Tennessee Fan....

Exactly the kind of unrealistic expectations I'm talking about.

7-5 is what can be realistically expected with this team...

guys look at Spurrier when he went to South Carolina. He still is struggling to get a system that works for him. Let CLK get a couple of recruiting classes under his belt before you call him a failure. Don't forget the team we have now except for the freshmen are used to losing. This team does not have the right mentality to a lot of games because they have been conditioned to mediocrity from the other staff. We need some fresh faces playing on both sides of the ball. Do you think if Pete carroll and his staff were coaching today they would have done much difference?? The answer is probably no. It is the players that play the game. Yes coaching separates average teams from great teams and it will happen. Crompton plain and simple is not a good gameday player. He freezes up in big games.
