Here's how we're gonna feel...

...after the Appalachian State game (W, 58-21) -- "whew, relieved we didn't do a Michigan. Looked dangerously like we might, there for a bit in the 2nd Qtr, before the boys turned it on. Lotsa work to do before we get to Florida!"

...after the Va Tech game / Battle at Bristol (W, 42-17) -- "where in the hell did that dent in my back bumper come from, I don't remember hitting anything! And why do I have pieces of a Dorito embedded in my forehead? Man, I have to get over this hangover so I can watch the DVR and actually see the game. WHAT A DANG PARTY! I never been around so many people before in my LIFE!"

...after the Ohio game (W, 135-7) -- "no, Ham, I hardly even remember the game, I was so worried about next week against Florida that I hardly saw it. I kept imagining what we would have to do against the Gators, if that makes any sense. It was just Ohio, man, the real test is coming!"

...after the Florida game (W, 32-17) -- "OH HAYELLL YEESSSSSSSSS!!!! STREAK!!!! BROKEN!!!! Take that, lizards!!!!!!"

...after the Georgia game (W, 27-24) -- "Damn, man, that was wayyyy too close for comfort. This Kirby Smart is gonna be one helluva coach, we won't be able to take the Dawgs for granted any time soon. But...a win's a win, and we now own the East!"

...after the A&M game (W, 45-38) -- "If our defense doesn't get something figured out, there's no way we're gonna get by 'Bama next week...holy carp, we couldn't stop anything!"

...after the Bama game (W, 21-17) -- "ATLANTA HERE WE COME, BABY!! THAT ONE'S FOR THE GENERAL, ELEPHANTS!!!!"

...after the bye week -- "Dang, Kentucky beat Mississippi State and is now 5-2?? Man, now I'm gonna be worrying about them for the next three weeks...."

...after South Carolina (W, 34-14) -- "I miss Spurrier, that ole ball sack...."

...after Tennessee Tech (W, 59-0) -- "It's nice to give to in-state charity."

...after Kentucky (W, 39-12) -- "Go home, Cats, wait for basketball season. You weren't that tough, after all...shoulda known."

...after Mizzou (W, 28-17) -- "It's official--SEC East champs, headed for Atlanta! Woot!"

...after Vandy (W, 42-3) -- "LSU, here we come! Time to get revenge for 2001, KITTENS!"

...after Atlanta (too close to call) .... ???

-----------------------------------------------------

and because nothing ever goes as good as it should, replace one of the above games with this:

...after ________ (L, 19-17) --- "##@&*&(*! those )(*$#!@Y&E$ &(*(*&##@^#*@!!!!!!!"

11-1 and Atlanta bound. It's gonna feel pretty good, most of the way.

Go Vols!

I will take 11-1 and go to the SECCG AND COME OUT WITH A WIN. I can live with that one loss. It is about championships, look at the NFL, only one team has ever had a perfect season and won the Super Bowl. With the parity that is starting to come to CFB, perfect seasons are going to be less and less common.

I heard about DANG parties when I was vacationing in Southeast Asia many years ago. It's not the sort of party most football fans would throw to celebrate a victory because it has nothing to do with sports.

Ed, I almost wanna say, "TMI," but for the life of me, I can't figure out the acronym. I know I'm gonna regret asking, hehe, but...

...it's not Dakota Army National Guard (DANG)?

...it's not Da Nang (DaNg)?

...it's not Dumb Azz Noob Grunt (DANG)?

...do we want to know what it is? :)

Could we have done this with every single game on our schedule in 2015? Let's face it realistic folks...the game is played on the field. We are picked about 12th or so in the nation--they usually turn out pretty close to right. Far cry from an undefeated season. Fantasies!!

Not an acronym. The locals spelled the word d-a-n-g, but pronounced it dong. Need I say more?

I fully expect to for Team 120 to be in the SECCG with only one loss in the regular season. I put no expectations on that game other than I want it to be competitive / exciting.

But if the one loss in the regular season is to Florida.... I'm not sure what will happen. There is no doubt that the SECCG will lose lustre. Even victory in the SECCG will seem ho-hum with a loss to Florida.

Everything after victory against Florida will be sweeter. Brighter. More exciting. Everything after a Florida defeat will seem duller, sexless, blasé.

I'd say it's time to get the lighter fluid and mattresses ready. Lose to Florida again and the post-traumatic psychosis will be such we may need to shut down football for decade.

Florida is an important game for the Vols.
