Here's Butch on the 2017 class.

Completely different.

The fact there are more 2stars in the NFL, if that's even true, has nothing to do with the absolute fact that teams with the largest accumulation of 4 and 5 star players are the ones who win college football titles.

We are saying the same thing

Butch salvaged 2013 pretty well and put together three straight recruiting classes that were spectacular. If we step back a bit for one year, it's not that big a deal. We are still loaded.

Having said that, I want the 2017 class to be as good as possible. But as others have noted, we really don't need too many of them to step up next year or even the year after. The base is here, and it can withstand one slightly less than spectacular year.

Winning curse almost everything. Recruits want to see Tennessee put it all together on the field and in the W column. Win and recruiting will get even better.

Have we been hit with the winning curse again?

This is exactly why Florida is going to suck this year and we'll beat them by double digits.

Bama and Georgia by this logic should be our only concerns.

Butch hasn't shown that he can beat UF, Bama, or any other SEC West team with 4* talent, so not sure why you think he can do it with 3* talent.

Well this is the first year that the majority of the talent isn't freshman and sophomores. This is the reason people think this is the year TN can really be in the hunt. Last year TN had a talented young team but this year TN has a talented and experienced team. Can you really not see the transformation?

Now, did I say that about Butch with that post? I said with a great coach. Butch is a really good coach but not in the great coach category yet to me. I was referring to the Nick Sabin & Urban Meyers type coaches.

The elite type coaches that takes good talent & turns them all into the best talent. That's what I'm talking about in response to what photovol had asked earlier.

So Butch is supposed to take his 4* kids 1-2yrs out of high school and beat Nick Sabans (the best coach in the modern era) 5* 4-5yrs removed from high school players to prove wether or not he is a great coach? There's a dang list of great coaches with veteran teams full of 4-5* players that's fell at the hands of lil Nicky. I hardly think that's the guidelines we should judge Butch on. IMO

08, he looks more like a good coach than a great coach so far cause Butch has had his fair share of shortcomings that he is being judged on at the moment and that's all we have to judge him on but that game at tusc last yr if anything is a positive from being able to take them down to the wire at their house with a young but talented team.

Let's see what he can do with a more veteran team and if he has learned from past mistakes before we judge him. Also it would prob be smart to see if he even signs a bunch of 3*'s come NSD before this conversation even has any weight. Just a thought anyway.
