A good coach may cost millions....but
look at how much a good coach will bring in to the University in year (1)...
If the fans are excited and the donors are excited it could be a tremendous amount of money

Perfect example is Mr Saban himself...look at the contributions to the school since he has been there..

And that my friends is what I think Currie is taking into consideration and I doubt money is a problem

The problem is a big name coach who can bring in contributions from donors and revenues from the football program for the renovations

The problem, as others have said, is that you just don't whip out a checkbook, write the check and the coach comes.

It's not that simple (as Florida is finding out).

Some guys want to be in a certain area. Some guys are happy in their current job. Etc, etc, etc.

Not to mention, there is competition for the same people.

Problem is, everybody has money nowadays. We can't out-money the smaller schools anymore. TV contracts have leveled the playing field.

Many seem to think it’s easy to get any coach they want. When money is fairly equal as it is now days at p5 schools, you have to have something else they want.

That is what I am saying Gator....you got to find the big name and see if he is interested...that is the problem

Checkbook isnt a problem when you see how much money that coach can bring in to the university...

Winning solves a lot of problems

How do you think Clemson is doing in contributions the last few years.......

Interesting that you would use Clemson as an example for this situation. They hired their interim coach - Dabo. Are you suggesting we should hire Hoke?

And Clemson hired Dabo Swinney who wasn't even a coordinator.

He was their WR coach. I've got friends who are Clemson alums and they were beside themselves at the thought that Clemson couldn't get anyone worth a damn to take the job.

Well, how you like Dabo now?

If you really think the majority of the fanbase will be excited if someone like Mullen, Brohm, Campbell or Norvell is hired then you heed a CT scan asap.

No i done. Most will be happy after the press conference, like always. If Derek Dooley can excite people, anyone can. Its the natural progression. You can deny it now, just watch.
Its just like game week after a loss. The threads get progressively happier as the week goes by.

I actually don't think Dabo is a great X and Os coach. He is good at recruiting and motivating players. I think he allows to OCs and the DC to do most of the actual coaching. It's working well for them right now.

Let's see how happy fans are if they name Greg Schiano as the new coach.

I didnt say after the hired, i said after the press conference. I would be happy with him. But lots of people will buy in after the press conference. I dont think it will be Schiano. No way they hire him after some of the trouble be have had. But if irs Peterson, everyone will be happy. If its Brohm, Campbell, Frost etc, most will be pissed at first then buy in after the press conference

By saying most you are being fallacious. The Dooley and Jones situations were different than now. Many fans are fed up with the absolute terrible hires that have happened since 2010. Many want a winning coach, a big time guy.

So saying most is just wrong. There will be plenty that will be happy with whomever is hired. However, I believe there will be much, much more who will be disgusted if yet another low ball coach is brought to Knoxville.
