The excuse squad is out in full force today. Do they not realize that every excuse they make for a coach that is in his fourth year just reinforces the argument that coach is not the coach to get us over the hump?

4 years of recruits or "bricks" ought to provide back ups.

Agree. The fact is we are still getting secondary talent to Bama/FL/now Texas A&M. We are not winning any recruiting games.

We aren't even getting all the best kids in TN.

What is concerning is that Sutton, Maybin, Weisman, Kendrick and Barnett will not be with the team next year anyway, along with Hurd, Kamara, Malone and Dobbs.

What will the excuse be then?

But all of Butch's 3* and low 4* with the occasional true 4* will dominate against Bama, Uga and Uf's classes loaded with 4-5* players.

what coach in the SEC has gotten over the hump against Alabama, not named Urban Meyer?

and what hump? we beat FL, Bet GA, in the same year finally, and the SEC east is still very much on the table.

the alabama hump......well, we're just in a line of teams trying to get over it. it's not unique only to Tennessee.

the only teams that beat Alabama in the last 5-6 years, in the regular season, are teams that are beneficiaries of Bama beating bama by fluke plays, qb's named Johnny football, or miracle kick 6's.

everybody else has lost to them.

and you don't get beat 49-10 because the coaches "didn't do something that would have turned it around".

i think what you saw yesterday was a way more talented, and a way deeper team, beat a team that's not.

Okay, but we've seen this eventuality forecast before we became a MASH unit. Both units of the team showed signs of regression at the opener; it was excused away.

Perhaps it would have only been a 30 point beat-down instead of 40, but it cannot be laid entirely at the feet of injury. At no point during the season has there been indication we'd be remotely competitive with AL or top-tier teams.

I realize this is an open forum, but can't you guys get your own site or at least thread? It wouldn't make any difference if the sane people got one because you guys would just show up.
If you can't realize where we are now compared to where we were 4 yrs ago, then you are beyond help. There is only one Saban and unfortunately everyone else is fighting for second, not just us but everyone else at the moment..

agreed. i get why so many people thought we might win...but match up wise, it wasn't exactly rocket science figuring out what a bad match up their front 7 against our O line would be, even fully healthy.

if fully healthy, i think our defense puts up a better fight. but like you, i don't know that the outcome would have been different, just more competitive.

Well, when we play Alabama in the S.E.C. Championship game, our team will look much, much different because before December 3rd, most of our injury ridden players will be back in the line up AND our second level players will have had several games to get experience........
Should have a better outcome in our next game against "O Bama"

Careful now...you are making too much sense for this site loaded with the most immature bunch on earth....by the time all is said and done we were down about 13 contributing to All-SEC and one All-American player....BUT...that still has no bearing on the game apparently....and you're right...I don't see many folks...NO NONE AT ALL ACTUALLY...stepping up to knock King Saban off the proverbial mountain but we have beaten Fla and Ga and maybe, just maybe (because injuries will stay with us the rest of the season)....we'll win out and go to Atlanta...AND THAT WAS OUR GOAL ALL ALONG FOR THOSE FEW OF US WHO UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON HERE...Thanks for your post...Phew...these kids are driving me nuts...:mf_surrender::mf_surrender:

Yeah some guy reposted a post an Arkansas fan had written claiming we should throw for 2000 yards on Bama's secondary because its so bad...and as I replied back then...ITS NOT THE SECONDARY WE CANT MATCH UP WITH...ITS THE FRONT SEVEN...my aching back...AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!!!!

I don't think anyone here really expected to beat Bama.

I think everyone here expected to at least compete with Bama. Or just lose by 2 scores. You know... look remotely competitive playing a team on our turf with a True Freshman QB and against a Bama defense that gave up 470 yards to Arkansas.

What we saw on Saturday looked like Bama was playing a Div-III opponent. Total and complete dominance.

Total yardage is a complete embarrassment... not to mention the score.

People are mad because we got humiliated. We didn't just lose to Bama. They made an example of our team and then scapled us in front of the nation. We got exposed for the scam we are.

Sloppy team with a horrible gameplan. Horrible playcalling as well... not to mention no physicality.

We can make all the excuses we want but it does come down to coaching. The sheer number of injuries is an indictment of the S&C program which comes down to CBJ. The fact that we lost both our highly regarded nutritionist and S&C coach within months of each other.

Add to that hiring a guy who wasn't in coaching at ALL in 3 year at the time of being hired... and before that he was simply a position (TE, of all things) coach. DeBored hadn't been an OC in 8 years. Why?

UT's system relies on Kamara making a sheer athletic play or Dobbs making a sheer athletic play. That's it. It's that simple. For 90% of our yards passing to be accumulated after the catch indicates a poor system that just requires a college athlete to do the hard work.

And lets not even start on the fact that we don't have a QB Coach. Oh, yeah, nevermind. DeBored is our QB Coach. The same guy that has no experience being a QB coach of this type of system (much less being an OC for this type of system) except 1986 at Fort Hays State.

Yeah, that's who we're trusting with the singularly most important position in College Football.

First move new AD should make is sacking the entire Offensive staff and hiring his own. Butch lost that ability when he hired DeBord. Period. But VN will be ecstatic IF he compiles a big game against South Carolina or some such bottom dweller.

There were open passes. Did you not watch the game?

Dobbs just doesn't know how to make reads. The CBS crew even started dogging Dobbs on it. He snaps the ball and his mind is already made up.

Probably because he doesn't have a proper QB coach teaching him how to make reads.
