I did not know that Game Day has been at the VOL/Gator matchup 7 times. More than any other SEC matchup. Now we are relegated to the 4th best game of the day....sad....but we are coming back, Herbie called it, it must be true.

For several years the TN - FL game was the SEC game of the season. Vols and Gators ruled the SEC.

He's a transformed Vol homer lol

I think Herbstreit is one of the better announcers on ESPN.

Herb was in chatt a few months ago. I was seriously gonna go wait in line to ask him why he hates tenn so much but refrained from it. Prob saved my freedom in doing that...

I thought he meant more than anyone in the country not just SEC

Didn't you know every analyst's/announcer's actual merit is just how often they pick the fanbase's favorite team?

Actually, I like Herb because he's generally pretty objective in his announcing when most aren't.

I mean, he could be slobbering over Bama like most others...

I like Herbstreit better than most; I actually think he's a very good analyst.

I just could have sworn though there was a massive thread here either a few or several weeks ago (could have even been during the summer, really don't remember the date) that turned into him just being "an OSU homer, ""terrible announcer," etc.

It more of just amuses me how the choosing or not choosing one's team in a prediction is the basis that most fans seem to use when critiquing these guys.

Well, picking the Vols does help lol

But I remember him catching a lot of flak from OSU fans by being objective of the Buckeye program which forced his move to Nashville.

Oh I know. That's what made part of that thread so funny. Most people, when they were posting that stuff, didn't realize he had that kind of fallout with the Ohio State fan base. (They were calling him big 10 homer and such.)

But that's kind of the same thing isn't it? Pick my team, you're great at what you do and get my praise; you don't, you're a hack who doesn't deserve the airtime. :)

I like Herby. Tries to be objective and that is easier said than done.

Now he is a Tennessean! Music City area I believe.

Lol if you put this thread and the Wes Rucker thread up side by side, it's actually comical...
