When he is taking off scrambling the ball more.

He plays much more tight and over throws guys when he isn't getting down and dirty I've noticed.

Hopefully the coaches identify this and call more designed QB runs early against Florida.

Better have the receivers start googling mapping their routes. You can't make me believe "Til" was the only guy able to use athletic ability to get open nor can you make me believe Pitt's d-backs were that overpoweringly good. I don't think we run routes very well.

I remember during the Ball State game, the announcers were talking about Hooker had been working on his mechanics, something about getting his right leg more under his body on throws. Sometimes I think it's best not to tinker with something that works. He hasn't been as sharp in his first two games. Thankfully, it seemed like he was more accurate later in the game yesterday. Maybe he dialed it back a little. Of course, the pressure Pitt was bringing probably had something to do with inaccuracies.

Hooker wasn’t as sharp these first 2 games but still got it done when he had too. When he started playing here all the VT fans I know kept telling me he finds a way to lose games he shouldn’t.
They didn’t play good as a team last night and could have lost because of it but Hooker and the team found a way to win ugly. I’m going to enjoy watching Hooker continue to prove those VT fans wrong.

About the time they called his first designed run I was thinking they needed to let him get hit a couple of times to tone down his emotion.

Not sure why Pitt makes UT QB's so nervous.

Tillman had a huge game, but had several big drops as well. He brings those in and it’s a different ball game.

It would be good to see some RPO instead of straight QB runs. He’s going to get hurt if he keeps taking the hits.

We can not play scared on offense. First quarter we looked very nervous and tight on offense. You could tell that Hooker was too much in his own head. He sails passes high when he is tight I've noticed.

Hooker is X10 more of a dangerous QB when he is scrambling around. We have a good backup in Milton if anything goes wrong. I never saw Dobbs, Cam Newton or Johnny Manzeil get injured running around a lot. Hooker looks pretty durable to me.

Hell, he looked nervous against Ball State as well. He is thinking too much and trying to avoid throwing interceptions a bit too much imo. I first identified this about Hooker against UGA last year. It's purely a mental/nerves thing imo.

Anyone who plays sports knows that you are at your best when you are getting physical and in the thick of it and just playing.....not thinking so much just simply playing. Same thing with dancing and most other things in life. If you are over thinking it takes you out of the zone or flow state so to speak.

I know this is true about Hooker because he admitted to it in an interview this off season when asked about what he can improve upon. He said not over thinking things and aying too tight.

I wonder if them changing his throwing motion isn't playing into that too.

320 yds is running good routes in my book.
Can you show us some 9f these bad routes?

Could be. Anytime you mess with a QB's throwing motion, it takes him a while to adapt mentally to it. They need to just let him simply play and risk getting hit some more early as well....not getting hit in the pocket ofcourse lol.

To Tilman 's credit....most of his drops were poorly placed passes. He still needs to catch those though for sure.
That one off his face mask couldn’t be placed much better and the one on 3rd down over the middle was a little high… the one on 4th down early in the game was a perfect ball in tight coverage… none the less I’m very impressed and pleased with Ced but if he wants to be a first round pick which he can do he has to make the tough ones like he normally does… his mental toughness is elite because his body language never changed and the drops didn’t affect his ability to play the next play… heup has preached that mentality since he was hired and you can see it in the team… no matter what happens they don’t let mistakes effect the way they continue to play and I love it…

Seriously. Why fix something that was never broken. That's on coaching imo.

Milton actually looked much more relaxed and fluid in comparison in his few snaps against Ball State. Not saying he is better ofcourse. But that's just what i saw. It was in garbage time against bad defensive players though.

Hooker is by far our best QB. But he is clearly in his head and not playing loose enough first two games imo.

He was at his best against Kentucky last year. Leave the kid's mechanics along and just let him play ffs.

Akron will be a much needed tune up game for our offense.

The one on his face mask was indeed a beautiful throw from Hooker. Difficult catch with the defender on him so tightly but he has to make that catch.

Sounds like my golf game.

Don't really have to. Just look how often he was looking down field and ended up throwing a short throw to the side for 3-7 yards with a short run after the catch. Let's say 10-15 times? That's somewhere around 140-50 yards. (apx. a third of his total of 300 plus)
