There’s no such thing as not game planning for your opponent. I’ve heard rumors of Pruitt preparing for other teams before Georgia State and I even find that hard to believe. It’s seriously next level stupid. They may have planned to go vanilla, and stay that way as long as the game didn’t turn into a fiesta. But they had detailed game plans for Ball St if things went badly.Coach Mac (Dave McGinnis)104.5 The Zone said he watched the game and in his observations Tennessee did not game plan for the game against Ball State they ran vanilla plays aka UT has better athletes we will just beat you heads up. So if that is true not much can be garnered about the D from the Ball State game.
Who knew ? Hendon Hooker looks like the Moses of Tennessee Football. He has brought us outa the wildernesses. What a great story of faith for the Hooker Family,Sometimes the hero you need is the guy that comes out of nowhere.
Considering the mess VT is in can you imagine how much they are stewing letting him get away?
I knew they were a bit salty so I did so some lurking on their boards last year. They heavily blamed their staff for getting so little out of Hooker and squandering his potential before he left.Sometimes the hero you need is the guy that comes out of nowhere.

I'm not convinced Pruitt planned for anybody. Just go out and try to win boys, like a peewee or grass cutters team. Far as the rest of it goes, agreed. There’s no such thing as not game planning for your opponent. Easy for him to say with how big we won against him. I still find it hard that a head coach who is getting paid millions would do this. I get that we all think it's a smart idea until it turns out to bite us in the arse. I think if anything Coach Hype had a game plan of let's see how easy we can score and run it up using basic plays that he has used a lot before. Then he finally just put backs up in when it was clearly already over withCoach Mac (Dave McGinnis)104.5 The Zone said he watched the game and in his observations Tennessee did not game plan for the game against Ball State they ran vanilla plays aka UT has better athletes we will just beat you heads up. I mean it’s possible. And would definitely explain why we lost. But still, extremely hard to believe (which is saying a lot based off his tenure here). It’s just unheard of, and goes against everything a coach should stand for in not only preparation, but messages he needs to send to the team.I'm not convinced Pruitt planned for anybody. He planned. He did what he was hired to do... prove that the "Fulmer brand" of football could still win. He applied a 1990's philosophy of play to the game now... and failed badly. Pruitt was bad. He was also an expression of Fulmer's vanity.I'm not convinced Pruitt planned for anybody. Just go out and try to win boys, like a peewee or grass cutters team. Far as the rest of it goes, agreed.
Most if not all coaches do that though and particularly for the first couple of games. They can't let their team overlook an opponent. However it would have been stupid to not spend time prepping for Pitt and UF in the lead up to BSU. You couldn't say it... but you have to do it.There’s no such thing as not game planning for your opponent. Yes, you’re correct. I should of worded that better. I meant preparing for other teams instead of Georgia State. One team I heard specifically was Alabama which we play in the middle of the schedule. But also, I have no solid source and forgot where I heard it so it could be 100% a myth. It’s just an example of how absurd that would be.Most if not all coaches do that though and particularly for the first couple of games. They can't let their team overlook an opponent. It could be something as simple as having a bunch of stuff that you prepare for the BSU gameplan... that you never intended to use vs BSU. Things specifically targeting Pitt or UF.
Alabama had zero sacks against utah stateI also saw where Saturday Down South used one of Freaks Tweets to show the Aaron Beasley QB hurry/mild hit leading to McDonald INT on first play.
Tennessee's defensive line failed its first test. It has to pass the next one (saturdaydownsouth.com)
Article was poorly written though.
Ita honestly a shame because Pruitt made a lot of good coaches, look like chumpsHe planned. He did what he was hired to do... prove that the "Fulmer brand" of football could still win.
