Pruitt is a first time HC, it's very probable that the first staff hirings aren't all going to be the correct coaches for the job.

Helton had Brohm as a head coach at WKU, and walked into USC with Sam Darnold as his QB. Given what we've see of his play-calling, there's a decent chance that he is pyrite.

I agree. Even coaches with prior HC experience don't always assemble the perfect staff on the first attempt. I imagine at least one of the guys he hired will move on after the season is over. It could be more.

Regarding the OC, I trust CJP and the AD to make the right decision. I agree with those who think Helton is trying to go slow with the play calling given what he has to work with. Until the Vols get a strong, nasty SEC caliber offensive line, no offensive system is going to look very good.

An OC is supposed to call plays to move the chains and create scoring drives. If you are calling plays to not get someone hurt then we shouldn't play the game.

Like JP a lot; Helton was a curious choice. 5 games in, this style of offense is archaic and Helton is a terrible play caller. This type of 1983 offense will not be successful in 2018. Will be difficult to recruit skill positions with the type offense. We will see in February!

Come on Man to you. You call plays to win the game and be competitive. You do not go into a game with an gameplan to prevent people getting hurt. Injuries have always been part of football and always will.
