My daughter goes to UTK. I found this in an antique store in Middle Tennessee a few years back.
Wondering if it might be a child’s Vols felt beanie for player 44 or 1944 season?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Years ago freshmen at many universities wore beanies and I suspect that's what this is.

Male Freshmen at UT had worn green “caps” prior to World War I, and in 1921 a debate was held by the literary societies concerning whether the tradition should continue. By student referendum in December 1921, the 1921-22 “Freshman Cap” was established to be a green felt cap, jockey fashion, with a “UT” monogram, below which the numerals of the year of the student’s graduation were to appear. The same cap was adopted by the 1922 freshmen. In 1923 and 1924, the caps were navy blue with an orange and white insignia, and in 1923 armbands for women were also navy with orange and white numerals. Green returned until 1939 when the freshman cap was replaced by a “rooter’s hat.”

Still have my "rat cap" from GT. Framed and hanging on my office wall.

Sometimes in particularly stressful times, a quick glance over and few moments of reminiscing of how fun life used to be gives me peace.

Quite frankly, my piece of paper from that institution went up in a fire-no worries. Can be replaced easily. I lost my rat cap though, I would be devastated.

Great outlook on stress management. I'm a boomer and the words "how fun life used to be" gave me pause for a second. Some days aren't easy, and some just absolutely suck, but I'm starting to come to the conclusion that we all need a beenie that says MLFA "make life fun again". We don't know which specific day will be our last, but it's gonna come, and it could come suddenly. Like watching Michigan play Alabama. Who'd a thunk that was Saban's last game at that juncture, and yet, he's gone. Gonna get another beenie with MAMA on it. "Make Alabama mediocre again". Ok, I'll stop.

Yeah, I always thought he would get out after winning another NC.
