Help!! need advice from married men with kids

Luckly my wife loves watching Ut as much as I do. Listen go to see elmo this will get so some great points. You know what I mean. DVR the game. Let her know what kind of sacrifice you are making for her. I mean really build this up.
Listen, My wife and I both have to go to a friends daughters wedding Saturday @ 3:30:banghead2:
So I feel your pain.

holly crap this thread is still going.....

well here is my fortunate turn of events.. wife called me at work today, told me she needed to talk to me about something important. so im like ok. then she starts talking to me in a very fast pace saying: my friend also got her kids tickets to go see the show would you be mad if i just rode with her and take the kids. im asuming she said it fast so i wouldn't have time to stop her out of anger....

Sooooo yea ill be at home with my laptop on volnation and the tv on the game

plus like others said, this crap comes around more then once a year..
But all the support from the post was very awesome.....

I see the God's of Knoxville have answered your prayer, if only they can answer one more in Gator Ville :rock:

Make sure your kids wear orange to see Elmo.

awewome

Hopefully you will not be wishing you went to Elmo by halftime

This is sad all the whipped men on these threads. If you truly love your wife you are not selfish and you think about lots of things to do to make her happy on days other than her birthday, Valentines day and your anniversary. As a consequence of your affection and attention, your wife is happy. Your wife will also think of things to do to make you happy. Now knowing how much I love UT, my wife schedules events around football and major basketball games.

Sad how many guys on here have such weak relationships. Either UT does not meant that much to you, or your wife does not care about what means alot to you.

I have noticed that (certainly not always) when I have to go somewhere for the wife and or kids, l put the game on the back burner, sometimes good things happen. *upset*.

But if things go as expected, think of it as... Would I rather watch us shoot ourselves in the ...(fill in the blank) and get beat, or spend the same time enjoying the family??

alrighty, i just started getting into college football last season (still a lot to learn) but anyway my wife has not picked up the concept im REALLY getting into it..

so a few minutes ago she comes to me and says,, i got free tickets to go see elmo live for the kids (we dont take our kids out much) so i was like ok thats cool when is it, she response back its Saturday at 2:30... i was like %#$^&@*#^% no, so now she is pulling the guilt trip

wtf do i do.. i cant miss this game after all the tension

unless your married with kids you may not understand..
:banghead2:

What is the worst that could happen if you stay at home and watch the game? Get divorced? Sounds like a win/win situation to me!

how have i missed this thread the last 2 days? epic

Yeah, me too. She sounds like the typical young wife who is completely oblivious to anything other than her own wants and needs. Sorry if I come across as being crass, but women need to remember that it's not always about what makes them happy...just like men need to do the same. I never understood why the wife's happiness always trumps the husband's. As for the child (sorry if this was covered in one of the 14 other pages of this thread) but I figure that if he/she is young enough to want to go see Elmo, then he/she isn't going to remember it in a year.

Now, having said my piece, I would probably go to the damned Elmo show and tape the game just to keep the peace and make her and my child happy.

dang fellas i figure this was be dead by now....

i guess i can do a little clearing up being its been brought back. I have just recently got into college football, as i have never had a interest in it before. My wife is just now kinda getting the picture of how it works, as im just now getting into it. My wife is the type of women who puts her wants and needs after making sure every one else in the house is happy. And about going to the show. i dont think she realized how dead serious im getting about football now. and i cant blame her because like i said im just now getting into it pretty hard..

My wife is a very wonderful spouse, she isnt expensived to upkeep and does not demand things of me, we base our relationship on you do for me i do for you.
Infact im kinda thinking that she actually tried dang hard to find someone else to go with her so i wouldn't fill bad about wanting to be at home. and sure enough she did it, keeping me in mind that i would very much like to enjoy watching the game... if i have to say anything about my wife i would have to say that i love her with all the world. and by her finding a way for me to stay at home so i can enjoy my sat i think is awesome...

as far as my kids go one is 9 and isnt even into elmo the other is 2 and im pretty sure will not even remember it.. as far as my 4 year old ,well elmo comes more then once a year...

and our relationship is by far weak..... my original post was one of those guys asking for other guys for advice, i did not mean for it to get dragged out like this... but like i said before having all these funny, serious and pretty brutal responses back has made me enjoy being a member on these boards even more... so again thank you every one who put in your advice..

Do you have to look down your nose at everyone on this board?

:lolabove: .... sounds like you found a good one!

does she have a sister?

Sounds like a situation where managing expectations is important for maintaining a happy marriage. When my wife and I were picking wedding dates, I only had two hard rules. We couldn't get married on the same days that UT played Bama or Florida. She conceded, and even went as far as making sure we set a date that was on a bye weekend. What a woman...
