Hear me out:

Hurd runs for 150 against Florida and exits early with a win

Dobbs throws for 250 and a few TDs to win a close game against bama given they have 1 loss.

Who's the guy that could slide in the 3-4 spot?

Beating Bama gets the world's attention. Beating Florida nowadays would only get Vol fans attention.

3-4 soot?

If everything plays out well I think either could rise from the ashes and be a contender. I think both could really clean up with the post season awards, but trying to win a Heisman can be political, as we all know.....it can be a dirty business.

The problem isn't just what "you" do but what "they" do as well. There are 4 power conference backs coming back off 1700yd (I'm counting Cook's 1691) seasons with the worst of them avg 6ypc. Frankly for a RB to win the Heisman in 2016 you're going to need CRAZY stats. Hurds yardage will likely need at least a 30% bump and be finding the endzone often. That's a lot...particularly with Kamara waiting to take some stats off the field.

Dobbs is helped a good deal by his running ability but it's still hard to imagine he wouldn't need around a 50% increase in yardage to keep up with Watson et al.

Upshot-the Heisman question is as much a matter of what the other guys are doing as what Hurd and Dobbs are accomplishing.

I don't think anyone beats Watson this season. The man is a baller.

It's the quarterbacks award to lose. RB and wr have to do to much to even get people to talk about them.

I wish the Heisman were banned. Rename it the media hype, regional prejudice, and good ole boy club award somehow. Such an ugly distraction from the beauty of this game. JMO.

I don't completely disagree. I wish it was truly open to more players at different positions.

They're already talking like McCaffrey has already lost due to late games. Smh.

It also matters how well the team does (except if you are Paul Hornung). If Clemson loses two games this year I doubt Watson gets the trophy. If UT would have beat Fla. in 96 or 97, Peyton would have won the Heisman.

Unfortunately, Dobbs would need to have a Manziel-esque game against Bama to be in the real conversation. 300-100 with 5 total TDs or so.

Watson or Mccaffrey will win it this year

I'd say front-runners for sure but we all know JT Barrett will put up crazy numbers in sorry big 10 and if he beats Michigan will be loved. Mayfield will be in conversation too before anyone not named Fournette in SEC.

I love you KB. Have I told you lately?
