Been there many, many times before but would like the names of some local fare restaurants, fun things to do. I'm into hiking and photography so I'd like to hit some scenic trails. Thanks!

Check out Cades Cove if u looking to go for a hike. Oh and The Katch as many have suggested is also a place you can take pictures of everything Knoxville has to offer.

The downtown bars and restaurants are much improved in the Market Square area. As far as hiking...anywhere in the Smokies. LeConte is a good hike, long, but good. Should be good photography too, just about anytime of the year.

Have fun and don't wear any UGA stuff :)

Do the Bistro at the Bijou for lunch. Pork loin with the collards and black eyed peas is quite tasty.

Five day K-town vacation for UGA

1. Spend first three days at The Katch One.

2. Stop by the campus & take a photo of our crystal football. This is the best opportunity you will ever have to see one.

3. Go to Cades Cove, park car, strip off all clothes except shoes, and hike deep deep deep into the forest. Running from the black bears is always exciting in mid-February.

OK, here's a guy who is a nice poster although from GA, so, here goes:
1. Steaks: By all means, Ye Olde Steak House
2. Upscale: Bistro By the Tracks, Brasserie, Seasons
3. Scenery: Lakeside Tavern, Calhouns on the River
4. Sushie: NAMA downtown and don't go anywhere else.

There's all kinds of hiking, trails at:
Great Smoky Mountains, outside of Gatlinburg
I like Cherokee National Forest, but a little more south of here
Big South Fork, especially if you have a day or two to scout around.

IF you're bringing a family, suggest Dollywood, Knoxville Zoo, Pigeon Forge.
IF you're into the single scene, (and I've been out of it for awhile), Downtown Gay Street (not a joke)/Old City seem to be the most happening places. You don't have to bring a gun, but it's a downtown so anything goes. But not as bad as any other town I've been to.

Good luck!

I'll be sure to take a feather duster when I photograph the crystal football. Bound to be a little sooty by now. And I'll make you several copies of the photos that you can keep in safe storeage as it's bound to be awhile until you win another one. I'll leave Katch One and the black bears to you. Sounds like you have an intimate relationship with 'em.

Naples is the best Italian restaurant in town. NAMA is the best sushi spot in town. Ye Olde Steak House is the best steak house. All are local treasures. I suggest Carleo's, Barley's, or Downtown Grille & Brewery for spots to have a beer and mingle.

As far as hiking goes, That really depends on how far you want to drive. You are about 2 hours from one of the best parts of the Appy Trail in Damascus, VA up I-81 outside of Abbingdon. Trail Days in May is an awesome thing. If you want to stay more local, I suggest Cade's Cove or about anywhere in Big South Fork will do. Townsend is less populated than Cade's Cove and just as nice IMO as well.

Tell the girls are the Katch that Jackson sends his love.

Hope you get to see a bear...it can be a grizzly experience

I'm gonna remember this post and we'll chat again after next season. Stranger things have happened. I saw Katch from 75 on the way in. We have Cheetah in Atlanta so I think Katch might be culture shock for me. So I'll pass. You'll have to give the girls your love in person. I've seen grizzlies before so black bears don't scare me that much. But I always carry a pistol just in case.

Thanks. I'll try out the more local trails. I'm working on hiking parts of the A-T from GA to Maine
