My buddy (who is a huge Gator fan) and I are planning on heading down to the Swamp this year for the big game. Besides an over priced scalped ticket, what else should I expect? I was talking to another UT fan last night and he brought up thrown beer bottles and an on foot police chase.

I've been to the swamp numerous times. You can expect a few drunk assholes, but for the most part I have had a great time in Gainesville. I have had at least one verbal altercation each year, but nothing physical.

my buddy (gator alum) and I go every year, this year will be no different. I've never had any problems there, but I've also been mostly with gators when I've gone since I've been out of school. nothing to worry about, as long as you don't mind some good ribbing...they're relentless down there.

Have you been to any other away games? If so, this trip will go to the very bottom of your "most enjoyable" list. Had fun with my friends down there but the game and post-game were just stupid.

I got hit with a cornhole bean bag while walking from my tailgate to the game two years ago. A fight ensued that was unwinnable...not to mention the hell we caught on the way out after losing! But, I've been there when we've won and let me tell you...it is amazing! The silence is deafening!

me and boy's usual routine is to NOT watch the game together, but because he went up to Knoxville with me last year, I said I'd go to the Swamp with him this year. i'm ready for some ******** but don't really want it to get physical. i'm a school teacher and really don't want to show up to class on Monday with a black eye or a busted lip.

I went there in 07 and I can't say it was a terrible experience, but it was my least favorite SEC atmosphere. The pregame tailgating was fun, lots of room all around the stadium to find good spots. Saw the Florida Pregame walkup which was impressive, but some Gator fans started talking trash to us because we were wearing polo shirts to the game and not Jerseys. Also they were making fun of us wearing flip flops(rainbows) to a game and not sneakers...I mean it was terrible they were the biggest idiots I have ever met. Luckily we weren't to intoxicated and nothing came of it.

The stadium atmosphere was impressive too though, get ready for a rowdy crowd. Especially this year.

Gainesville is a complete sh*thole.

The people are horrible.

It's hot as hell.

Everyone is rude.

Have fun!

You could get a sub teacher to fill in for you if you get in a fight.:)

See a priest, Get blessed....You will need it...Do not make direct eye contact with any of the gator fans, most are from the trailer parks around the area and might think you are interested in them...Lots and lots of prostitutes in that town so do not get caught with your pants down without condoms, God only knows what those girls are carrying....Keep your wits about you and you should be fine. Bring one of those portable rain coats with you...No not for rain, For the piss cups you will most likely get thrown at you from the student section and upper deck areas....Not on the big list of classy fun places to visit

Oh yeah and hire one of the local kids to watch your car during the game, Give him half then and the other half when you get back from the game, Either that or you will have "Go Gators" scratched in your paint job...Happened to me once up there....Bastards

I wouldn't wear UT gear. That would be like waving a confederate black around in the projects. A fight just isn't worth ruining my time. I would scream like crazy during the game, though.

Watch out for guido frat boys who like to shave their chests and rub each other down with oil.
