From what I've always understood, the wall is as much a magical barrier as it is a physical one, as such they cannot just go around it. I'm pretty sure I saw this question asked of Martin a long time ago on a fan forum, and this was the gist of his answer.

I'm beginning to think the Prince that was Promised and Azor Ahai are 2 people. Like well told Dany "I believe you have a role to play as does another."

In the books, Samwell Tarly says, “I found one account of the Long Night that spoke of the Last Hero [a.k.a. Azor Ahai] slaying Others with a blade of dragonsteel. Supposedly they could not stand against it.” Longclaw was technically pulled from a fire by Jon Snow.

Could be...I don't think that's is what he was saying necessarily, but we will find out. Having a giant wall doesn't do a dang bit of good if they can just go around it, but besides that everything has ways pointed to the wall being breached not circumvented.

I liked it. Dudes been beaten down so much he doesn't remember what it's like to stand up for himself. Also you saw what his sister did to him right before the battle. To be honest I was expecting him to say "kill her"

Euron made one helluva entrance. Theion's decision there was unsurprising but still cringe worthy. Yara was already dead at that point. We know what Cersai's gift is going to be.

Not sure if it was just the director on this one, but I didn't like the over use of the shaky camera effects during the ship battle. GoT has been good about avoiding that up until this point. Hope it's not a trend

I'm assuming it was because they were on a moving boat that was constantly getting barraged. If the camera didn't shake then you would lose a sense of realism for that scenario. I don't see it translating to other battles.
