Sadly, for some probably not. You don't pump up a coach who hasn't delivered an actual championship of some kind. You don't start encouraging a contract extension for a coach has failed to do that. And you don't tolerate the ones who do. They are probably his relatives in Michigan or personal friends. That last unwarranted extension probably cost UT another 4 mil on the buyout.
You do what Auburn has done successfully for years. You measure yourself against the top dog. Auburn demands a coach that can compete with and beat Bama. If he can't, he has to hit the exit. Even if he won a national title 2 years before. They don't go in for coach worship for a 9-4 season if it isn't resulting in a win over their most bitter rival and a trip to Atlanta at least.
They don't gage themselves against a down Florida team but instead against the top ranked Bama team that is in their way. They don't get personal over coaches or how good their image is. They either win or they have to get up and get gone.
