Hats off to Aaron Beasley

This guy has taken a huge step forward. He led the team with 14 tackles this week after leading last week too. He was all over the place and made some great hits on the Qbs all game long.

I would like to add that he had 3 QB hurries and a TFL. A lot of people felt like he was just a warm body for depth, but he’s really becoming a legitimate P5 quality starting LB.

if we play mistake free we would’ve boat raced PITT in the second half but the defense has massively improved.

I was shouting his praise in another forum. That guy has grown and progressed soooo much. Proud and happy for Beasley!

Banks is not a liability. He had a bunch of tipped passes and was involved in a lot of clean up.

I got blasted by a few on this board for saying last year that Beasley had improved by the end of the season. He had gone from a liability to average in my opinion. I was told that was due to bad competition at the end. But I saw a kid who was simply playing better football. He’s taken another step this season. He’s Tennessee’s best LB. I thought losing Mitchell would hurt, but Mitchell is going to be a depth guy now (which is a great thing).

Good news is, Beasley has a Covid year, so he can come beck next year.

I kept saying this all game long, the TE and RB for Pitt were his responsibility most of the night and they had big games receiving the football.

This is fair. I think it’s also fair to say that Banks had a rough game, but overall, is not a liability to this defense. He was preseason All SEC for a reason.

I agree that Banks can tackle and play old fashioned SEC football, but the game has changed and a LB has to be able to run and cover in space. Banks is just not that good a coverage in space. I hope he proves me wrong, but so far he has not improved in that department.

Who’d a thunk it….in the course of a year a young man can learn more about the system he’s now playing in, learn more about the position (a position he just switched to last year), get bigger and stronger, get faster and in better shape…and be an all around better player the following year

Idk about that one. Banks is pretty fast. He almost tracked down #2 on that 76 yard run

Banks played the run pretty good, but he seems to always be out of position on pass plays. He did have a couple of tipped passes, but they were not thrown to receivers for whom he was responsible. I think he will make a lot of tackles and probably lead the team this year.
